Reading Between The Lines Of The Second-Hand E-Commerce Business In China: A Study Of Consumer Behaviour Xianyu Second-Hand Platform, Bing Sun

Second-hand transactions are gradually becoming an indispensable and significant form of the sharing economy; however, there is limited research on consumer behaviour in second-hand markets in an online environment. This dissertation aims to enrich the research in this area by analysing the impact of the characteristics of buyers, sellers, and products in second-hand markets on consumer purchasing intentions and behaviours. The study uses transaction data from Xianyu, China’s largest C2C second-hand trading platform, to investigate the factors that influence consumers’ choices between first-hand and second-hand trading platforms. This Special Feature considers how accurately professional forecasters have predicted GDP growth and inflation in Singapore, especially during rare events such as the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) and COVID-19. It also illustrates the value of forecast probability distributions in inferring forecasters’ uncertainty when making predictions, and the degree of consensus between projections from different forecasters. The authors find that one-year ahead forecast errors for GDP growth and inflation increased during the GFC and the COVID-19 pandemic. While professional forecasters did not appear to have followed the Government’s forecasts when predicting growth during the GFC, they may have exhibited ”leader-following” behaviour …

During the Qing dynasty, the Chinese Government appointed officials based on a man’s education and how he passed the imperial examinations. Chen Hongmou stands out among the many officials chosen during the eighteenth century.

Born October 10 1696 in Lingui, Guangxi, China, Chen spent his career as an official for several provinces. Based on his own experiences, Chen wrote texts on leadership and the duties of officials. He not only wrote to promote a system of good governance, he did so while espousing progressive ideals.

Research on the displacement of the Rohingya from their property has paid little attention to how the government’s land policies encourage various actors to seize that land and extract resources. This research is based on interviews with Rohingya refugees, reports from the United Nations and humanitarian agencies, and published academic work. Economic, social, and political factors are responsible for the displacement of Rohingyas. To argue that a single factor is responsible for their displacement would be incorrect, as research reveals a more complicated interaction of social forces. In May of 2022, Bongbong Marcos won a commanding 59 percent of the vote to become president of the Philippines. His victory was, on some level, shocking to scholars and analysts of Philippine politics. As a result, a plethora of different theories have been proposed, in an attempt to explain why Marcos won. In this paper, we use nationally representative survey data to explore which factors predict (and do not predict) voting intention for Marcos.
