On my (continuing) walk across China, I have occasionally come across the kind of construction featured in the attached image — a farmhouse with a door half way up the wall, no stairs attached. I have previously assumed the house was still under construction, or perhaps they ran out of money before doing the stairs. August 8, 2010 marked the first anniversary of the Siaolin Village 小林村 tragedy, when torrential rains caused by Typhoon Morakot triggered a massive mudslide that swept this idyllic community off the face of the earth, taking 474 lives. Shanghai seems to have turned into a massive game of “Where’s Haibao?” as the image of everyone’s favorite Expo mascot pervades the city, in places both expected and not. The Institute of Service Excellence at Singapore Management University rolled out the Customer Satisfaction Index of Singapore for companies in 8 key economic sectors in 2007. 2010 marks the introduction of a quarterly measure-and-release system. Each quarter, end-users of companies from two economic sectors are surveyed. The results are estimated and analysed for release in the same quarter. The national score will be released in the first quarter of the following year. Sectors measured in the second quarter of 2010 are Transportation & Logistics and Education. Price Movers On The Stock Exchange Of Thailand: Evidence From A Fully Automated Order-Driven Market, Charlie Charoenwong, David K. Ding, Nattawut Jenwittayaroje

This study examines trade sizes used by informed traders. The selected sample includes 73 active stocks from the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), a pure limit order market, that cover two distinct market conditions of a bull and bear market. Using intraday data, the study finds that large sized trades (i.e., larger than the 75th percentile) account for a disproportionately large impact on changes in traded and quoted prices. This finding compares with the results of studies conducted on U.S. markets that show informed traders employ trade sizes falling between the 40th and 95th percentiles (Barclay and Warner 1993; Chakravarty …

This paper aims to elaborate the tolerance discourse in Yogyakarta through restricted research pertaining that issue within the society of Yogyakarta. Since the beginning, the society of Yogyakarta has been practiced brotherhood, fraternity and tolerance in many ways. In early 1990s, however, some Islamist group has been growing at the city in which a number of Islamic schools and hospitals were built in some area in Yogyakarta. Religious mass organizations that have existed previously, for instance Muhammadiyah, in some cases, distressed by Islamist group movements.
