Co-operative movement in India has a long-standing contribution in the growth of business, agriculture and allied activities. One such cooperative movement in India is the Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Co-operative Limited (CAMPCO) which was initiated with a joint cooperation between the states of Karnataka and Kerala to create an organized market structure for the two plantation crops namely Arecanut and Cocoa in the backdrop of falling market price of these crops. This report focuses on the extent of food insecurity among seniors in the United States. Seniors are defined as those who are 60 years of age or older.

A partial enterprise budget simply evaluates the costs and returns profile of the agricultural firm. The simplicity in the partial enterprise budget comes with a cost that it lacks accuracy as it uses fixed single estimates and ignores potential variation in the components of the agricultural production processes. We study risk-rated returns from southern highbush blueberry production using a drip irrigation system under 5 scenarios of the blueberry prices and yields. The risk-rated return analysis gauges the returns over total costs under different specified situations addressing possible uncertainty. Nebraska has a history of cooperatives in agriculture. The most common types are agricultural marketing and supply cooperatives. The Nebraska Cooperative Council map highlights that there are over 400 cooperative locations in Nebraska. In addition to agricultural cooperatives, such as Ag Processing, Inc. and Producers Livestock Marketing Association, there are also cooperative credit unions and the Nebraska Rural Radio Association.

Fungi that bind leaf litter into mats and produce white-rot via degradation of lignin and other aromatic compounds influence forest nutrient cycling and soil fertility. Extent of white-rot litter mats formed by basidiomycete fungi in Puerto Rico decreased in response to disturbances—a simulated hurricane treatment executed by canopy trimming and debris addition in 2014, a drought in 2015, a treefall, and two hurricanes 10 days apart in September 2017. Percent fungal litter mat cover ranged from 0.4% after Hurricanes Irma and Maria to a high of 53% in forest with undisturbed canopy prior to the 2017 hurricanes, with means mostly …

Background: Most studies on the environmental impacts of agriculture have attempted to measure environmental impacts but have not assessed the ability of the sector to reduce or mitigate such impacts. Only a few studies have examined greenhouse gas emissions from the sector. This paper assesses the ability of states in the U.S. to reduce agricultural emissions of methane and nitrous oxide, two major greenhouse gases (GHGs) with important global warming potential.

Sustainable agricultural practices are the best solution to resolve widespread degradation of agricultural land in Indonesia. However, application of this practices in Indonesia are still very limited. Many empirical studies show that private agricultural land is an incentive that encourages farmers to apply sustainable agricultural practices. This research aimed to analyze relationship between agricultural land ownership and adoption of sustainable agriculture practices. The main data source used is 2017 Food Crop Cost Structure Survey. OLS and 2SLS methods are applied to estimate impact of agricultural land ownership. Regression results indicate that private land motivates farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural practices.

Poverty is multidimensional and has a close relationship with food insecurity. By using the Alkire-Foster MPI with four dimensions (monetary, health, education, basic infrastructure), it was found that the monetary dimension has a role and contributes to multidimensional poverty although it’s not the main factor. The causes of poverty are obtained from other dominant dimensions. Meanwhile, the portrait of household food security in North Kalimantan Province in aggregate has been classified into food security category. It is concluded that poverty affects food security. This study proves that multidimensional poor households are very likely to become food insecurity households.
