Application Of Time Series Model In Water Inflow Prediction Of Working Face, Shi Longqin, Wang Yaru, Qiu Mei, Gao Weifu
Coal Geology & Exploration
In practical production of mines, the prediction of mine water inflow is of great significance for mine water prevention and control. Taking working face 1301 of Yuncheng coal mine as the research object, and without considering the influence of seasonal factors, ARIMA-the time series analysis model-is used to establish the functional relationship between mine water inflow and time, which proves that the time series of water inflow in working face 1301 of Yuncheng coal mine is affected by seasonal factors. Then, based on the principle of addition and decomposition of time series, the long-term trend, seasonal indexes, circulating factors and …

Coal Geology & Exploration
To study the mechanical properties of limestone with water-rich saturated circumstance under water pressure-stress coupling, compression failure tests of limestone samples with different water pressure were carried out by using a self-developed permeability test device, the device can realize uniaxial compression test. Then, the stress-strain characteristics of limestone, the effect of hydraulic pressure on uniaxial compressive strength, the elastic modulus and the deformation modulus, and the correlation between breaking characteristics and hydraulic pressure were tested. The results show that the increased hydraulic pressure has a significant influence on the stress-strain curve and strength characteristics. With the increase of hydraulic strength, …

Coal Geology & Exploration
Aiming at the problem of serious attenuation of channel wave in thin seam and its limited distance of propagation, a method of restricted CT imaging was proposed by using the furthest in-seam wave propagation distance. Firstly, the variation of in-seam wave frequency with different thickness of coal seam was studied by theoretical derivation. Taking a 1.5m thin seam as the main research object, the attenuation characteristics of channel wave were simulated by forward modeling, and the effective propagation distance of channel wave was determined. The actual data of No. 15 coal seam in a coal mine in Shandong Province shows …

Coal Geology & Exploration
A special type of multiple reflected refraction often appears in seismic records in areas with low-velocity structures. It seriously affects the closed reflection wave, which causes the distortion of the reflection wave shape and affects the correct interpretation of the seismic data. Based on the forward simulation of the multiple reflected refraction equation, the generation mechanism of multiple reflected refraction in the shallow low-velocity zones was set forth. A method of suppressing multiple reflected refraction by vertically combined dual sources was proposed. The formation parameters(formation thickness and velocity)are obtained according to the methods of small refraction and micro logging in …

The past few years have witnessed increasing numbers of discussions and programs about the impacts of climate change, addressing topics from the devastating wildfires in California, relentless heat waves in Europe, to the accelerating thaw of the ice sheet in Greenland. The media has described the social atmosphere using such terms as climate angst, ecological grief, and existential crisis. Weighed down by a steady stream of climate news, some people have sought professional help for guidance on tackling emotional responses to natural disasters and climate trauma. Meanwhile, many of us are wondering what can be done. As a central player …

Unsustainable consumption of biofuels contributes to deforestation and climate change, while household air pollution from burning solid biofuels in homes results in millions of premature deaths globally every year. Honduras, like many low and medium Human Development Index countries, depends on primary solid biofuels for more than 30% of its primary energy supply (as of 2013). We conducted a societal exergy analysis and developed a forest stock model for Honduras for 1971–2013 and used the results to model an energy transition from traditional wood stoves to either improved efficiency wood cookstoves or modern fuel cookstoves (using Electricity or Liquefied petroleum …

Climate change will impact soil properties such as soil moisture, organic carbon and temperature and changes in these properties will influence the sorption, biodegradation and leaching of trace organic contaminants to groundwater. In this study, we conducted a modeling case study to evaluate atrazine and estrone transport in the subsurface under current and future climate conditions at a field site in central Nebraska. According to the modeling results, in the future, enhanced evapotranspiration and increased average air temperature may cause drier soil conditions, which consequently reduces the biodegradation of atrazine and estrone in the water phase. On the other hand, …

Research Study
Warming climate and resulting declines in seasonal snowpack have been associated with drought stress and tree mortality in seasonally snow-covered watersheds worldwide. Meanwhile, increasing forest density has further exacerbated drought stress due to intensified tree-tree competition. Using a uniquely detailed dataset of population-level forest growth (n=2495 sampled trees), we examined how inter-annual variability in growth relates to snow volume across a range of forest densities (e.g., competitive environments) in sites spanning a broad aridity gradient across the United States. Forest growth was positively related to snowpack in water-limited forests located at low latitude, and this relationship was intensified …

ABSTRACT: Innovating the Built Environment for a Post-COVID-19 World
It would seem an act of academic malpractice to teach a course titled Innovating the Built Environment: How the Law Responds to Disruptive Change, and host an all-day symposium as an integral part of that course, and not endeavor to address the most-disruptive thing to happen to the built environment in more than 100 years: The coronavirus pandemic. This "disruption" to real estate is the proverbial elephant in the room. Hopefully, it will maintain a minimum six-foot distance from others as we address how it impacts the four Special Topics …

ABSTRACT: Is “tokenization” the next great leap forward needed to make homeownership more appealing to Millennials and Gen Z’s?
If single-family homeownership and time-sharing had a love child, what would it look like? Is it possible to adapt successful models for office sharing to homeownership so renters who lament not owning an appreciating asset could have a stake in “something” while not being tied down to one specific residential structure or a single geographic location, to make homeownership more attractive to younger generations? And, if so, does blockchain technology hold the key (pun intended) to fractional ownerships in real …
