Modeling The Ambient Conditions Of A Manufacturing Environment Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (Cfd), Yang Liu 2021 University of South Florida

Modeling The Ambient Conditions Of A Manufacturing Environment Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (Cfd), Yang Liu

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

As manufacturing equipment evolve to higher speed and require high precision operations, the impact of environmental changes on machine accuracy becomes critical. Due to thermal expansion, the structure of the machine can change when ambient temperature varies. When the airflow in the laboratory changes, this also alters the operator's thermal comfort. Either the change in machine structure or operator comfort can ultimately affect machine accuracy. The manufacturing industry is currently using heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems to regulate the temperature of the working environment. However, since conventional HVAC systems determine whether to activate the HVAC system by collecting the …

Mega-Herbivores, Plants And Soils, Jennifer Adams Krumins 2021 Montclair State University

Mega-Herbivores, Plants And Soils, Jennifer Adams Krumins

Sustainability Seminar Series

Ecosystem and plant ecologists understand that herbivory can have a profound influence on primary production and plant community structure. This can be seen in mass outbreaks of insect herbivores or the grazing activity of ungulate herds. Likewise, the same ecologists understand that plants interact closely in a bidirectional relationship with soil organisms and the ecosystem properties they moderate. Therefore, logically we hypothesize that herbivory will have either a direct effect on soil communities and their functioning, or at minimum, an indirect effect on the soils via the plants they support. My sabbatical research included participation in multiple programs studying the …

Research And Application Of Horizontal Wire-Line Directional Deviation Correction While Drilling, Wu Jinsheng, Huang Xiaolin, Jiang Bing, Zhang Chi, Wu Wanjiong

Coal Geology & Exploration

In wire-line core drilling of horizontal holes, the rotation axis of the drilling tool is not in a straight line with its own gravity direction; with the ground hole pressurized, the drilling trajectory will be deviated due to the soft and hard formation or the occurrence of the rock formation. At present, there is no effective way to achieve directional deviation correction while drilling. This paper studies the pushing, fixing and fishing technologies of small-diameter horizontal wire-line directional instruments while drilling. A set of horizontal rope directional drilling tools and directional technology are developed and applied in directional deviation correction …
