Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is a rare, immune-mediated demyelinating disorder of the central nervous system, often triggered by viral infections. Parvovirus B19 has been implicated in various haematological and neurological manifestations; however, its association with acute hemorrhagic ADEM remains rare. Here, we report a case of a 5-year-old male immunocompetent child who developed ADEM following parvovirus B19 infection, emphasising the rarity of such presentations and the importance of early recognition and management.

Purpose: This case report provides an example of the utilization of true wireless earbud (TWE) technology within virtual mentoring sessions in an outpatient setting, aimed at enhancing mentee learning within a neurologic physical therapy residency program.

Methods: The mentor- mentee pair, consisting of one mentor and one mentee, participated in virtual mentorship sessions using a combination setup that included visual communication through a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliant video conferencing platform delivered on a tablet, and audio through TWE. This study evaluates ChatGPT's ability to forecast influenza rates, such as the number of flu cases, hospitalizations, and death during peak season periods using CDC data, and comparing forecasts against actual results to calculate statistical accuracy and consistency. Influenza forecasting is essential for public health planning, but traditional methods may not always provide timely or accurate predictions. It is now well-documented that sexual and gender minoritized individuals (SGMs) face consistent stigmatization from not just the health care system, but also from overarching community, federal, and societal entities. Subsections of the SGM community, like gay men for example, face higher rates of eating disorders, certain cancers, alcoholism, mental illness and even obesity, when compared to heterosexual counterparts. Many of these challenges could be exacerbated by current political administration efforts to silence the community. Introduction: Despite health sciences graduate schools emphasizing service-learning and interprofessionalism, they often struggle to integrate these values into the curricula effectively. Advance care planning is inherently interdisciplinary and presents an opportunity to address equity gaps through service-learning. This report describes a novel interdisciplinary service-learning initiative for graduate student trainees, focused on advance care planning in underserved communities.

Background: As per World Health Organization, in 2022, 660000 women were diagnosed with cervical cancer worldwide and 350000 women died from the disease. Sexual behaviour is the major risk factor and exposure to Human Papillomavirus has been established as a causative agent in 70-80% of the cases for development of cervical cancer. Most infections with HPV resolve spontaneously and cause no symptoms, persistent infection can cause cervical cancer in women. New guidelines from the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education for critical care ultrasound (CCUS) training went into effect on July 1, 2024, for critical care medicine and combined pulmonary and critical care medicine fellows. Fellowship programs will need to ensure that their fellows demonstrate competence in skills that are essential to CCUS, which currently encompasses applications in basic cardiac, lung/pleural, abdominal, and vascular ultrasonography (US). This may be a challenge for fellowship programs that have nascent CCUS curricula and limited faculty expertise. Students come to medical school with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Accordingly, many schools have developed pre-matriculation programs to support students' transition into medical education, especially for those whose educational path may not have offered the same breath of opportunities as their incoming counterparts. Baylor College of Medicine established a pre-matriculation program for students from early assurance programs and non-traditional pathways to address gaps in student support and normalize help-seeking behavior. This program took place over 2 weeks and was developed with leadership and student partners. Participants included 21 students who completed baseline and post-program surveys. Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) has been embraced by most medical specialties, yet undergraduate medical education still has difficulty incorporating POCUS skill development and assessment. While much of the existing literature focuses on specific POCUS and/or ultrasound topics, the feasibility as well as ensuring POCUS topics are relevant to all undergraduate medical education (UME) learners are often left unaddressed.
