Snapping Triceps Syndrome: A Rare Cause Of Medial Elbow Pain, Dale Bongbong, Kevin Gilbert Ms, Kenneth Vitale Md, Fascm, Jennifer Tram Md

International Journal of Exercise Science: Conference Proceedings

PURPOSE: Snapping medial triceps is a relatively rare cause of medial elbow pain that occurs when the tricep tendon dislocates over the medial or lateral epicondyle. Physical exams usually demonstrate intermittent medial elbow pain with extreme elbow flexion or extension, however dynamic diagnostic studies allow for direct visualization of the dislocating tricep. This case report adds to the sparse literature on snapping medial triceps. METHODS: We report a rare occurrence of snapping medial triceps in a young female who initially presented with pain at the posteromedial right elbow with extreme flexion and extension. Intermittent snapping of the medial elbow was …

Early And Progressive Mobility: A Program Implementation Strategy For High Acuity Patient Care Locations, Stefani Poland

Student Scholarly Projects

Despite an increase in the promotion of early progressive mobility, its decrease in hospital-acquired complications and improvement of patient outcomes, there remains a reluctance in staff commitment to daily evaluation and implementation. This is largely due to the fact nurses or other interprofessional staff are the primary individuals responsible for this change in process. A lack of confidence in staff to correctly identify patients that meet criteria and anxiety regarding the safe transfer or mobilization of patients, particularly in high acuity settings have been identified as major barriers. The PICOT question that guided this program development of a CBO toolkit …

Reproducibility Efforts As A Teaching Tool: A Pilot Study, Nestoras Karathanasis, Daniel Hwang, Vibol Heng, Rimal Abhimannyu, Phillip Slogoff-Sevilla, Gina Buchel, Victoria Frisbie, Peiyao Li, Dafni Kryoneriti, Isidore Rigoutsos

Computational Medicine Center Faculty Papers

The "replication crisis" is a methodological problem in which many scientific research findings have been difficult or impossible to replicate. Because the reproducibility of empirical results is an essential aspect of the scientific method, such failures endanger the credibility of theories based on them and possibly significant portions of scientific knowledge. An instance of the replication crisis, analytic replication, pertains to reproducing published results through computational reanalysis of the authors' original data. However, direct replications are costly, time-consuming, and unrewarded in today's publishing standards. We propose that bioinformatics and computational biology students replicate recent discoveries as part of their curriculum. …
