The topic of quantitative imaging in radiation therapy was presented as a "Masterclass" at the 2023 annual meeting of the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO). Dual-energy computed tomography (CT) and single-positron computed tomography were reviewed in detail as the first portion of the meeting session, with data showing utility in many aspects of radiation oncology including treatment planning and dose response. Objective. This study was conducted to determine whether utilization of the superior root of ansa cervicalis (SRAC) as the donor for phrenic nerve (PN) transfer is technically feasible. Background. In patients with high cervical spinal cord injury resulting in diaphragmatic paralysis, another donor, the spinal accessory nerve, has been used successfully to reinnervate the PN and restore diaphragmatic function. Methods. Eight neck sides underwent cadaveric surgery. The sternocleidomastoid muscle was retracted posteriorly, the SRAC and PN were isolated, and the SRAC was cut near its distal end and transposed to the ipsilateral PN as it crossed the anterior scalene muscle. …

INTRODUCTION: Renuvion (J-lipo) is an FDA-approved minimally invasive procedure for skin tightening and fat reduction using helium gas and radiofrequency to create plasma energy. Despite its benefits, Renuvion can cause serious complications such as burns, with a complication rate of 0.04% between 2020 and 2021. This report describes a rare complication—third-degree burns from internal thermal injury—and explores its pathophysiology. A Galeazzi fracture involves a fracture of the middle to distal one-third of the radius with dislocation of the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ), commonly caused by forceful impact to an outstretched hand with a hyperpronated forearm. Introduction: Splenic angiosarcoma is an uncommon, malignant neoplasm of vascular endothelial origin. Given its unique nature and rupture potential, we present a case of perforated splenic angiosarcoma. Case Description: A 79 year-old female with a history of vocal cord paralysis, recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy, and thyroidectomy presented for a second time with stridor and worsening shortness of breath. Due to desaturation and bradycardia, unsuccessful intubation led to a tracheostomy and ICU transfer. She stabilized and showed no major complications for seven days. Background: Robotic hepatectomy represents an appealing treatment modality for resectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). A contemporary review of robotic hepatectomy compared to laparo- scopic/open hepatectomy is necessary. Methods: We performed a literature review to identify studies between 2018–2024 comparing robotic to laparoscopic/open hepatectomy for HCC with measurable outcomes. Results: A total of 10 studies were identified, including 943 patients undergoing robotic hepatectomy compared to 1678 patients undergoing laparoscopic/open hepatectomy. Generally, while similar short/long-term survival was noted across all resection modalities, robotic hepatectomy was associated with longer operative time, shorter length of stay, and less post-operative compli- cations. The temporal sequence and the extent of gene regulatory network changes occurring across organs during the development of hypertension remain unresolved. In this study, female spontaneously hypertensive (SHR) and normotensive Wistar Kyoto (WKY) rats were used to analyze expression patterns of 96 genes spanning inflammatory, metabolic, sympathetic, fibrotic, and renin-angiotensin (RAS) pathways in five organs, at five time points from the onset to established hypertension. BACKGROUND: Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and continuous subcutaneous insulin infusions (CSIIs) are the current standard treatment devices for type 1 diabetes (T1D) management. With a high prevalence of T1D beginning in pediatrics and carrying into adulthood, insufficient glycemic control leads to poor patient outcomes. Dermatologic complications such as contact dermatitis, lipodystrophies, and inflammatory lesions are among those associated with CGM and CSII, which reduce glycemic control and patient compliance.

Chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) significantly increases the risk of major adverse limb events (MALE) and major adverse cardiac events (MACE) after lower extremity revascularization (LER). This study aims to identify novel biomarkers that help to further reduce the risk of postoperative cardiovascular complications. In this prospective, nonrandomized, observational study, baseline serum levels of sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) were assessed in 147 diabetic patients scheduled for LER due to CLTI, and participants were followed for the occurrence of MALE and MACE over 12 months.
