We conducted a study to assess the accuracy of the Woodland Stick in determining tree diameter and height as compared to professional measurements and how bias can affect tree volume calculation. After comparing professional measurements with five non-professionals (NP’s) using the Woodland Stick, we found that three out of five NP’s had significant differences in mean dbh, and all of the NP’s had significant differences in mean total height. The overall bias for dbh across users was +0.5 inches and +5.1 ft for height. These deviations can result in volume differences between 0 and 30 bf on a single tree.

This study aimed to identify single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers associated with the concentrations of Mn and Fe in walnut kernels and the genetic variation in these concentrations. This study’s objective is to explore the influence of particle size on the characteristics and functionalities of baby corn powder. In food product development and application, particle properties are crucial. Sieve analysis using a series of standardized sieves determined the particle size distribution, ranging from >500 µm to 53 µm. The particles exhibited stability, with an average size of 208.8 nm, a polydispersity index of 0.133, and a zeta potential of –20 mV. Excessive salinity poses serious threats to crop productivity and global food security. Salt stress reduces crop growth and final productivity by inducing ionic, osmotic, and oxidative damage. Applying plant growth hormones is thought to be an efficient method of reducing the negative effects of salinity. Brassinosteroids (BRs) are plant hormones that have demonstrated appreciable effects against different abiotic stresses. (Euphorbiaceae) plant against five larval stages of the pine processionary moth (PPM) (Thaumetopoea pityocampa (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) (Lepidoptera: Notodontidae)) were investigated under laboratory conditions. Ilex cornuta (I. cornuta) is a traditional Chinese medicine that is rich in various secondary metabolites with pharmacological activities, among which triterpenoid saponins are one of the main active components. Squalene epoxidase (SE) is a key regulatory enzyme in the biosynthesis of triterpenoids. In this study, we isolated a squalene epoxidase (IcSE1) from I. cornuta and analyzed its molecular characteristics and functions. The results indicated that the total length of the IcSE1 sequence was 1942 bp, which includes a 1638 bp open reading frame (ORF) that encodes 545 amino acids. Resistance breeding is the most sustainable and effective disease control method. Cordia myxa is found in tropical regions of Pakistan, where it is commonly known as lasura. This study aimed to assess the preliminary results of phytochemical analysis and the pharmacological activities of C. myxa. After pulverizing the fresh plant, extracts were prepared using different solvents, including aqueous, methanol, ethanol, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane extracts. These extracts were examined for total phenolic contents using standard biochemical tests and high performance liquid chromatography with a photodiode array. Recently, some edible plants and fruits have undergone extensive research to identify potential health effects arising from their valuable nutritional and bioactive properties. The present study aims to investigate the phenolic compounds of nine edible plants and fruits throughout the gastrointestinal digestion model by comparing their total content and antioxidant activity. Of the species studied, Eremurus spectabilis and Gundelia tournefortii had the lowest total phenolic content, whereas Prunus armeniaca showed the highest value of 1026 ± 164 mg GAE/100 g. Rapid increases in wildfire area burned across North American forests pose novel challenges for managers and society. Increasing area burned raises questions about whether, and to what degree, contemporary fire regimes (1984–2022) are still departed from historical fire regimes (pre-1880). We use the North American tree-ring fire-scar network (NAFSN), a multi-century record comprising > 1800 fire-scar sites spanning diverse forest types, and contemporary fire perimeters to ask whether there is a contemporary fire surplus or fire deficit, and whether recent fire years are unprecedented relative to historical fire regimes. An important question in restoration ecology is whether restored ecological regimes are more vulnerable to transitions back to a degraded state. In woody-invaded grasslands, high-intensity fire can collapse woody plant communities and induce a shift back to a grass-dominated regime. Yet, legacies from woody-dominated regimes often persist and it remains unclear whether restored regimes are at heightened vulnerability to reinvasion.
