Evaluation Of Morphological, Chemical, And Sensory Characteristicsof Raspberry Cultivars Grown In Bosnia And Herzegovina, Vildana Alibabic, Azra Skender, Melisa Orascanin, Edina Sertovic, Emina Bajric
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
Due to the growth in production of raspberry (Rubus sp.) in the Una-Sana Canton, there is a considerable need to research the fruit quality, as well as to guide the production in order to satisfy the requirements of the market. Raspberry fruit is very interesting for consumers because of its pleasant aroma and color, low calories, and high nutrient value, with health benefits that manifest in the high amount of antioxidants. In this paper, we have examined the morphological, chemical, and sensory properties of four cultivars of raspberry (Meeker, Willamette, Fertödi, Polka) grown in the area of the municipality of …

The Effects Of Ga3 Treatment On Yield, Carbohydrate, And Endogenous Hormone Changes In Memecik Olive Cultivar, Sali̇h Ülger, Sabri̇ye Atmaca, Sara Demi̇ral
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
In this experiment, 100 ppm gibberellic acid (GA3) was applied to Memecik olive trees in the middle of June in the `on' (bearing) year to research the effects on yield, reducing sugar amount, and endogenous hormones with the purpose of bearing fruit regularly. The yield was 19.33 kg/tree in control plants and 17.33 kg/tree in GA3-treated plants in the `on' year. The yield was 7.17 kg/tree in GA3-treated plants and 4.00 kg/tree in control plants in the 'off' year. While GA3 treatment was not very effective on the decrease of fruit amount in the `on' year, it increased fruit amount …
Use Of Phenotypic Selection And Hypocotyl Properties As Predictive Selection Criteriain Pumpkin (Cucurbita Moschata Duch.) Rootstock Lines Used For Grafted Cucumber(Cucumis Sativus L.) Seedling Cultivation, Onur Karaağaç, Ahmet Balkaya, Münevver Göçmen, İsmai̇l Şi̇mşek, Di̇lek Kandemi̇r
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
In recent years, grafted cucumber seedling use has been rapidly increasing worldwide, especially for providing tolerance to stress conditions and positively affecting yield potential. However, graft incompatibility is still an important issue in grafted seedling production. Hypocotyl properties of rootstocks and scions are of great importance for ensuring graft compatibility. This study aimed to select superior rootstock genotypes based on certain selection criteria, such as hypocotyl morphology, grafted seedling visual evaluation, and graft compatibility properties, of 42 pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata) genotypes that are included in the cucumber rootstock breeding program and are resistant to Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cucumerinum. Three …
Correspondence Between Maturity Date And Molecular Variations In A Nac Transcription Factor Of Diploid And Polyploid Prunus Species, Eszter Balogh, Julia Halasz, Zsolt Szani, Attila Hegedus
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
The maturity date (MD) of Prunus stone fruit has been long known to be a quantitatively inherited trait. A NAC-type gene indicated as PpNAC1 (ppa008301m) has been found recently to be a strong candidate of a major gene influencing MD in peach. A 9-bp insertion in this gene resulted in earlier MD in two segregating peach populations. This study was carried out to test whether this mutation in the PpNAC1 gene can be used as a reliable functional marker for MD in a wide range of peach cultivars of various origins and phenotypic characters. A total of 125 peach cultivars …
Highly Informative Ssr Genotyping Reveals Large Genetic Diversity And Limited Differentiation In European Larch (Larix Decidua) Populations From Romania, Pietro Gramazio, Ioana M. Plesa, Alina M. Truta, Adriana F. Sestras, Santiago Vilanova, Mariola Plazas, Oscar Vicente, Monica Boscaiu, Jaime Prohens, Radu E. Sestras
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
European larch (Larix decidua) is naturally distributed at high elevations in Central Europe. Romanian populations of L. decidua are scattered in different areas of the country. In this study, we used 12 highly informative genomic simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers for genotyping seven populations from different areas of Romania. The SSR markers were highly variable, with up to 11 alleles per SSR locus and an average polymorphic information content of 0.713. High values of observed (Ho = 0.542) and expected (He = 0.738) heterozygosities were observed. Cluster analysis of populations did not group them according to geographical distance, but some …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
The biomass per plant and total phenolics (TPH) of ethanol extracts of 3 species of thyme, Thymus vulgaris, T. serpyllum, and T. citriodorus, and 3 varieties of basil (Ocimum basilicum), Genovese, Thai, and Cinnamon, were investigated. All were grown organically. The 2 herbs that showed the greatest biomass were T. citriodorus (26.5 g/plant) and O. basilicum var. Cinnamon (105 g/ plant). For these, total flavonoids (TFL), total flavones and flavonols (TFF), and total flavanones and dihydroflavonols (TFDH) were also determined for their ethanol extracts. Furthermore, the antioxidant potential (AOP) and antibacterial activity were determined against foodborne bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria …

Application Of Data Mining And Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Structureto Predict Color Parameters Of Walnuts (Juglans Regia L.), Bünyami̇n Demi̇r
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
Quality is the primary factor designating consumer satisfaction and the market price of agricultural commodities. Color and general appearance are the basic quality indicators for agricultural products. Surface colors are assessed through colorimetric measurements including L*, a*, and b* color parameters. In the present study, L*, a*, and b* color parameters of Bilecik, Fernette, Fernor, Kaman-1, Maraş-12, Maraş-18, Sunland, Şen-2, Yalova-1, and Yalova-3 walnut cultivars (color parameters of 100 randomly selected walnuts from each cultivar) were measured with a chroma meter (CR-5 Konica Minolta). Based on L*, a*, and b* measurements, equations from which color index (CI), chroma (C*), and …
