Effectiveness Of Silvicultural Options In Renewal Of Trembling Aspen–Jack Pine Mixedwood Stands, 21 Years After Treatment, Rongzhou Man 2025 Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry

Effectiveness Of Silvicultural Options In Renewal Of Trembling Aspen–Jack Pine Mixedwood Stands, 21 Years After Treatment, Rongzhou Man

Aspen Bibliography

Regenerating conifers after harvest through planting and postharvest broadcast application of herbicide is effective in ensuring the survival and growth of seedlings, but faces challenges in meeting broad social and ecological objectives of forest management. This study reports the effectiveness of alternative options in regenerating jack pine (Pinus banksiana Lamb.), 21 years after harvest of trembling aspen (Populus tremuloides Michx.)-dominated boreal mixedwood stands. The treatment options included (i) preharvest spray—aerial broadcast spray prior to harvest, (ii) postharvest partial spray—ground herbicide application in strips, (iii) partial harvest in strips, (iv) postharvest aerial broadcast, and (v) uncut reference. Twenty-one years …

Biosecurity Strategies For Combating Iuu Fishing: Protecting Ecosystems And Economies, Spencer Anderson 2025 Utah State University

Biosecurity Strategies For Combating Iuu Fishing: Protecting Ecosystems And Economies, Spencer Anderson

Student Research Symposium

Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing threatens marine ecosystems and global economies by driving overfishing, spreading aquatic diseases, and introducing invasive species. It disrupts biodiversity, jeopardizes fisheries' sustainability, and undermines the livelihoods of millions, intensifying food insecurity and socio- economic vulnerabilities, particularly in fishing- dependent communities.

This research examines biosecurity strategies— including regulatory frameworks and collaborative efforts—to safeguard marine biodiversity and support sustainable fishing economies. Addressing the complex challenges of IUU fishing bridges gaps between conservation, public health, and economic resilience.

This study adopts an interdisciplinary approach to develop practical solutions to preserve biodiversity, enhance public health protections, and promote …

Evaluation Of Field Grown Grapevine Grafts For Drought Tolerance Under Water Deficit Irrigation In The Arid Regions Of Uae, Sonu Krishankumar 2025 United Arab Emirates University

Evaluation Of Field Grown Grapevine Grafts For Drought Tolerance Under Water Deficit Irrigation In The Arid Regions Of Uae, Sonu Krishankumar

Thesis/ Dissertation Defenses

Grapevines, among the most commercially significant fruit crops, are valued for their use in table grapes, raisins, and winemaking but are highly vulnerable to abiotic stresses such as drought, heat, and salinity. This study investigated the morphological, physiological, biochemical, and transcriptomic responses of grafted grapevines to drought stress, emphasizing rootstock-scion interactions. Grafting experiments were conducted with three rootstocks (Ramsey, RU140, and Paulsen) and table grape varieties (Thomson Seedless, Crimson Seedless, and Flame Seedless), with five combinations as Flame seedless × Ramsey (V1), Thompson seedless × Ramsey (V2), Crimson seedless × R110 (V3), Crimson seedless × Ramsey (V4) and Thompson seedless …

Economic Considerations For The Transition To Organic Farming: Insights From The 2023 Conference, Asa B. Stone, Katja Koehler-Cole, Ronald Christian Stephenson

Cornhusker Economics

Introduction

The Transition to Organic Farming Conference, led by Katja Koehler-Cole and sponsored by the Nebraska Extension and the USDA-TOPP (Transition to Organic Partnership Program), aimed to equip farmers with the essential knowledge for effective agronomic management. Focusing on overcoming challenges related to soil fertility and weed control, the conference served as a platform for both education and community building. It provided crucial insights into the economic considerations faced by farmers transitioning to organic practices, underscoring the economic complexities and benefits associated with this transition. The conference highlighted the need for comprehensive support systems to aid farmers in making informed …

Greenhouse Gas Emissions From Flood-Irrigated Rice As Affected By Phosphorus Fertilizer Source, Chandler M. Arel, Kristofor R. Brye, Diego Della Lunga, Trenton L. Roberts, Richard Adams 2025 University of Arkansas, Fayetteville

Greenhouse Gas Emissions From Flood-Irrigated Rice As Affected By Phosphorus Fertilizer Source, Chandler M. Arel, Kristofor R. Brye, Diego Della Lunga, Trenton L. Roberts, Richard Adams

Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences Faculty Publications and Presentations

Research into alternative phosphorus (P) fertilizer sources that may be able to supplement P resources is necessary. Struvite (MgNH4PO4 · 6H2O) can be made by removing excess nutrients from waste sources and may reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from cropping systems. This study sought to quantify GHG [i.e., methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and carbon dioxide (CO2)] fluxes, season-long emissions, and net GHG emissions from chemically precipitated struvite (CPST) and synthetic and real-wastewater-derived electrochemically precipitated struvite (ECST) compared to monoammonium phosphate (MAP) and an unamended control (UC) from flood-irrigated rice (Oryza sativa) grown in P-deficient, silt loam soil in a …

Impact Of Seed Priming On The Growth Of Okra Seedlings., VINUKONDA KRANTHI, I.P. Handayani 2025 Murray State University

Impact Of Seed Priming On The Growth Of Okra Seedlings., Vinukonda Kranthi, I.P. Handayani

Scholars Week

Seed priming is a vital pre-sowing technique that enhances germination, seedling vigor, and crop performance. This study examines the effects of electric, magnetic, botanical, and chemical seed treatments on the okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) variety Phule Vimukta. Conducted in a controlled laboratory setting using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four replications, the experiment evaluated germination percentage, root and shoot length, seedling vigor indices, and biomass accumulation. Treatments included magnetic fields (2–12 mT), halopriming with NaCl₂, Osmo priming with KH₂PO₄, and botanical extracts from Tulsi, neem, and curry leaves. The results showed significant differences among treatments. Magneto-priming at 12 mT for …

Contributions Of Biochar And Biofertilizer On Food Scraps Composting, Kabita Budthapa, I.P. Handayani Dr, Shova Shrestha Dr

Scholars Week

Food scraps have contributed significantly to environmental problems. Because of its substantial effects on the environment, the economy, and society, it has become a major global issue. This research was conducted at Nepal Academy of Science and Technology, Lalitpur, and was meant to find ways to shorten the composting period using biofertilizers and biochar and study their impacts on the compost nutrients. The experiment involved seven treatments with three replications: T1 (Control), T2 (EM-1), T3 (Prarhamva decomposer), T4 (Biofertilizer KM), T5 (Biochar 400 g + Biofertilizer KM), T6 (Biochar 800 g + Biofertilizer KM), T7 (Biochar 200 g) with 5 …
