Understanding The Relationship Between Gender And Self-Efficacy In Northeast Texas Public Schools, Abbie Strunc Ph.D., Kimberly Murray Ph.D.
Understanding The Relationship Between Gender And Self-Efficacy In Northeast Texas Public Schools, Abbie Strunc Ph.D., Kimberly Murray Ph.D.
Journal of Human Services: Training, Research, and Practice
Using a sample of 147 K-12 teachers in Northeast Texas, the authors examine the importance of gender for teachers, and if gender impacts his or her own feelings of self-efficacy, while controlling for demographic variables. Findings enhance scholars’ understanding of how men and women view themselves and their perceptions of their own self-efficacy in education. This research also merges the literature in education and sociology, providing an example of how interdisciplinary research can improve our understandings of social problems found within educational institutions.
Gender Disparity In Stem: Evidence From India, Abha Bhagat, R Vijayaraghavan
Gender Disparity In Stem: Evidence From India, Abha Bhagat, R Vijayaraghavan
Teacher India
Although India has made strides in the education of girls, performance and participation of women in stem are still a challenge. An examination of the IBT data shows that performance disparities in mathematics and science between girls and boys grow as students proceed from primary to secondary level.
Enseñando Desobediencia: La Pedagogía Del Cuerpo Y El Libre Desarrollo De La Identidad De Género De Las Estudiantes Transgénero Y Travesti En El Bachillerato Popular Mocha Celis / Teaching Disobedience: Pedagogies Of The Body And Transgender And Tranvestite Students’ Free Development Of Their Gender Identities In Bachillerato Popular Mocha Celis, Joaquín Labio
Independent Study Project (ISP) Collection

Independent Study Project (ISP) Collection
Examining The Meaning Of Course Evaluation, Tyesha Stewart
Examining The Meaning Of Course Evaluation, Tyesha Stewart
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Teaching evaluations significantly influence faculty members’ annual evaluations and progress toward tenure and promotion within academic programs in higher education. Those with consistently strong, positive, teaching evaluations have been deemed effective instructors and often validated with increases in salary, teaching awards, and promotion and tenure. This is especially the case when strong course evaluations are received in addition to documented scholarship and research activities and positively evaluated professional service. However, questions are being raised about the meaningfulness of students' ratings of course instruction. Do these measures effectively assess competence as instructors or do they measure other unknown processes in the …
Bullies And Allies Near The Playground: Mothers' Experiences Of Aggression In Their Children's Schools, Mara Vicente Robinson
Bullies And Allies Near The Playground: Mothers' Experiences Of Aggression In Their Children's Schools, Mara Vicente Robinson
Dissertations
Despite an increasing understanding of the importance of both parent-involvement and aggression among women, there appears to be little understanding of how these two areas influence each other; specifically, the lack of literature examining the extent to which female guardians experienced aggression from other female guardians and the effect it had on their involvement in their children’s schools. In an effort to investigate the extent to which aggression was prevalent among female guardians, the factors that influenced the aggression, and the effects of that aggression on women’s involvement in their children’s education, a convergent parallel mixed methods design was used …

Ways Of Doing: Feminist Educational Development, Emily O. Gravett, Lindsay Bernhagen
Ways Of Doing: Feminist Educational Development, Emily O. Gravett, Lindsay Bernhagen
To Improve the Academy: A Journal of Educational Development
In response to the recent special call in To Improve the Academy, we offer the following collaborative essay that describes how feminism is our characterizing perspective on educational development. The essay details various, interrelated facets of feminism that inform our work in the field: gender, intersectionality, power, privilege, standpoint theory, and collaboration. Not only do these facets characterize our own feminist approach to educational development—from consultations to organizational development to publications—but, we argue, they also align well with the values and approaches of the field as a whole.

Recreating Resistance: Rape Culture Resistance Through Human Rights Education, Hailey D. Vincent
Master's Projects and Capstones
Sexual violence and rape culture are substantial issues in our society and on our college campuses. The goal of this project is to provide research that investigates rape culture on college campuses as a human rights violation and ways to address it in an intersectional manner through human rights education. The research for this project, conducted through a literature review, provides the ability to look at rape culture through a human rights education lens. In response to the research conducted, Recreate Resistance was created as a pedagogical tool for educators in First Year Experience (FYE) programs on college campuses. Recreate …
