Sejak American Association for the Advancement of Science mcnerbitkan The Online Journal Current Clinical Trial pada 1992, muncul pada hari ini ribuan e-jurnal di Internet dalam pelbagai bidang dan bahasa dan dari pelbagai negara di segenap penjuru dunia. Internet menyediakan medium baru kepada para sarjana dalam semua bidang untuk melapor penemuan terbaru mereka secara pantas, mudah, murah dan tersebar luas.
