Attitudes Of Undergraduate Students Toward The Utilization Of Multimedia Resources In University Of Ibadan, Mojisola Omowumi Odewole

This study investigated attitudes of undergraduate students toward the utilization of multimedia resources in University of Ilorin. Descriptive survey was adopted and a sample of 392 undergraduate students were randomly selected across the fifteen faculties in University of Ilorin by using multi-stage random sampling technique. A questionnaire was used to collect data from 392 selected sample, out of which 376 copies of the questionnaire were completely filled and returned. Data collected for the four research questions were analyzed using frequency counts and percentages while PPMC was used to test the only null hypothesis of the study. The study found that …

The present study highlights the roles of public libraries in the socio-economic development of rural areas in the digital age with special reference to the Government District Library- Ahwa. A total no. of 60 questionnaires were distributed to a library, using a survey to collect data. Out of which 45 users gave their responses. The study found that all respondents indicated that they were using the public library for reading purposes. Followed by 75.56% respondents to prepare competitive exams, 71.11% to improve general knowledge, and very few users using the library for other purposes. The majority 53.33% of users had …

Tangible Impact Of Literacy In Libraries And Information Undergraduate Academic Performance Skills Students At Kwara State University, Nigeria, Abdrahman Atanda Moustapha

PURPOSE: The paper examined the effect of library skills and literacy on the academic performance of undergraduate students at Kwara State University, Nigeria.

DESIGN/METHODOLOGY: A descriptive survey method and random sampling techniques were used with 150 randomly selected students for the research. A self-designed questionnaire was used to elicit responses from the respondents, and a simple percentage ratio was adapted for data analysis.

The perception of teachers and students on promoting political participation among in-school adolescents using library resources was ascertained. The motivation for the study was prompted by the incessant low political participation in democracies including Nigeria. This is evident in the statistical evidence showing the low voter turnout compared to the registered voters over the years. Studies show that youth disengage more in political participation than the elderly ones. This paper investigated user satisfaction as a predictor to library patronage among undergraduate students in Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. The instrument used was a self-developed questionnaire by the researchers. The questionnaire validation was subjected to the scrutiny of the experts in the areas of the variables studied; it gave a reliability coefficient of 0.855 (85.5%) for library patronage and 0.837 (83.7%) for user satisfaction. A response rate of 100% was achieved. Data were analyzed using descriptive (percentage, mean, average mean and standard deviation) and inferential (Pearson Product Moment Correlation) statistics. Redesigning Libguides: How To Improve Experience For Users And Staff, Chandler D. Smith

Objective: To create a template for LSUHSC-NO’s LibGuides to give them a unified look and feel and make navigation of the LibGuides easier.

Methods: Using LibGuides template editor, changed the navigation from “tabbed” to “side nav” and created a style guide for other librarians to base their LibGuides on and have a centralized place to look for resources and other help on building a LibGuide. Assessed relevance of individual guides, edited the tags list to get rid of unnecessary tags. Added Alt Text to images to increase accessibility of guides.

What if we could transform student perceptions of the academic library in one night? Our library orientations may be the key to changing the library image from that of a stuffy and intimidating place to a hub for exploration, creativity, and fun. This presentation will highlight how one institution threw out the rule book on the traditional library orientation, trading in our tired PowerPoints and scavenger hunts for laser tag and escape rooms, to give students a night to remember. Presenters will share details about the planning, execution, and assessment of an after-hours library event attended by 1,500 first-year students.

This research paper focuses on how the Toledo Lucas County Public Library (TLCPL) has adapted to the 21st century, with an emphasis on the impact of digital materials and the Internet. This paper looks at these changes primarily through three lenses: official policies, services and programs, and internal culture. This paper uses quantitative data to determine if TLCPL has maintained overall growth in areas such as number of cardholders, customer counts, circulation, computer usage, and program attendance. These numbers show that, while not always maintaining growth, TLCPL has adapted quite well to the 21st century, bringing in record high numbers …
