The article focuses on Trading Libraries, a program originally proposed by Callie McGinnis, dean of libraries at Columbus State University. Its goals are that librarians and staff would receive a healthy and beneficial dose of professional development experience and make new professional connections to strengthen the library network. The program had these basic guidelines which includes a participant would shadow their counterpart from another University System of Georgia library and the participant could be a librarian or staff member.

In 2007, though, the poor floppy disk is completely obsolete. They are too small and too fragile. The floppy disk replacement is going to have to offer a lot more than mere storage to compete with e-mail and network drives. Are USB flash drives up to the task?

In the fall of 2005, two librarians, a legal research and writing program director, and an instructional technologist at Wayne State University received a grant to create online tutorials introducing novices to the basics of legal research. Objective ‐ Every day librarians make decisions that impact on the provision of library products and services. To formulate good decisions librarians must be equipped with reliable and valid data. Unfortunately, many library processes generate vast quantities of unwieldy information that is ill suited for the evidence based decision‐making (EBDM) practices librarians strive to employ. Librarians require tools to facilitate the translation of unmanageable facts and figures into data that can be used to support decision‐making. One such tool is a rubric. Booklists ... librarians love them, but they also raise many questions. This session explores where today's libraries fit in the dichotomy between what we 'should read,' what we 'want to read.' Our first stop on this exploration will be the concept of a booklist. A very real tension exists between librarians’ attempts to alter their image(s) and the popular press’ and the public’s lingering preference for Marian the Librarian similes. As the Hot Picks @ Your Library calendar indicates, librarians take creative opportunities to dissuade the public of the “image of a dourfaced matron behind a forbidding desk” (Gillespie 2003, A01). But how do librarians attempt to frame their own discussion of the classic caricature?
