The project’s goal is to create and maintain a comprehensive database containing subject-specific information. The information is used to serve as a key resource for grant support and enhance the ethical treatment of animals.

A library Intranet allows librarian liaisons to conduct database searches and prepare customized reports for campus researchers. EndNote software is utilized, due to a campus site license.

It has become common practice for library instruction to be included in lower-level college composition courses. Students are typically required to visit the library once or twice a semester to receive instruction on how to find books and journal articles for an upcoming writing assignment that incorporates formal research. Africa needs information about HIV/AIDS. Librarian activists have a duty to organize, repackage, and circulate HIV/AIDS information. Unfortunately, this has led in some cases to an unintentional assertion of cultural hegemony, which operates invisibly to those who are part of the “dominant” or “dominating” culture. Unexamined assumptions of “superiority” have led to a bias that the West possesses the only correct method for codifying knowledge. The West cannot appropriately evaluate the successes or failures of HIV/AIDS education in Africa if it employs only American or Western ideas, categories, and sensibilities. After going through a long reorganization, technical services at the University of Kentucky looked very different in 2005 than the team-based organization of recent years. A new organization also created new departments and units as well as new names and terminology. One new group was the Special Formats Unit, created by putting together the various catalogers who were not located in the central technical services area of the main library. Using The Tools Of Crisis Intervention And Empowerment Counseling In The Reference Interview, Wendy S. Wilmoth

The article explores similarities between reference service and the concepts of empowerment counseling, as defined by the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape, and crisis intervention, as defined by the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault, in the hope of enabling academic librarians to provide assistance that is informative and relevant to patrons who may be survivors of sexual assault. It is inferred that reference interview is important to providing the best library service possible. The role of reference librarians in giving empowerment counseling and crisis intervention to sexual assault survivors is discussed.
