Evidence synthesis (ES) is the process of systematically collecting studies and synthesizing the findings using strict protocols and criteria. Common examples of ES include systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and scoping reviews. While ES has been commonplace in health sciences for many years, it has recently gained traction in non-health sciences fields such as the social sciences. In response to this growing trend, the IMLS-funded Evidence Synthesis Institute was created to offer librarians in-depth training on how to best provide ES support to disciplines outside the health sciences.

Multiple disciplines are increasingly embracing data science and digital scholarship. However, insufficient training for digital and computational methodologies within subject/departmental silos means that these needs often get overlooked. Opportunities for learning how to teach technical concepts (i.e., how to handle troubleshooting, live participatory coding, etc.) are also rare or non-existent via departmental offerings. For many students, the process of completing a dissertation stipulates a set of unfamiliar rules, unfamiliar schema, and a foreign field of play that can affect student resiliency. This presentation describes the process used to develop and implement an information literacy curriculum for graduate programs at Emory & Henry College. When the library director was hired, she noted that students were graduating without having contact with the library and without building necessary information literacy skills. She began searching the literature for solutions and approaches. She synthesized the literature and, after identifying barriers, created a plan. Her team of librarians began by developing a curriculum map for information literacy skills at the undergraduate level. The article asserts that practical experience is a critical and too often neglected component in Master of Library and Information Science/Library and Information Studies (MLIS/LIS) graduate programs. It advocates for the necessity of enhancing professional development initiatives such as mandating internships as a condition of graduation, which will offer students a significantly greater chance of successfully transitioning from graduate study to professional employment. It investigates U.S. workforce trends from 2008-2020, which reveal the competitiveness of the field and the difficulties experienced by graduates attempting to obtain employment in the absence of concrete, hands-on, library-based experience.

Collection acquisition is continuously becoming a rigorous activity as libraries are seeking more economical path to information resources to adequately meets the needs of their users. Libraries are supporting patrons needs through demand-driven acquisition that gives them liberty to participate in library collection acquisition decision. This study investigates Malaysian academic libraries adoption of Demand-driven acquisition (DDA) model considering the mediating effect of readiness. A quantitative research approach was employed using survey questionnaire with a total of 152 responses gathered. This study demonstrates that readiness has significantly influenced DDA adoption among Malaysian academic libraries, so is awareness and socio-economic factors.

This presentation is used with students for evaluating sources. It covers the differences between popular, scholarly, and news articles. The information cycle is used to inform students about how and why topics are covered in different publications. The presentation ends with an activity where students read a snippet from a publication and are asked to guess the source.

While more Latinx students continue to enroll in higher education, physical, intellectual, and socio-cultural barriers to information may continue to impede their success and inclusion. A tripartite theoretical model that examines physical, intellectual, and socio-cultural information access provides insights for academic libraries to better meet Latinx students’ information needs and include them in campus life. This paper gives an overview of the theoretical framework along with practical steps libraries can take to improve information equity.

This study discovers the user awareness and satisfaction level of research scholars with resources in academic libraries. It has been conducted by survey method and distributed the pre-structured questionnaire among research scholars in three universities in Karnataka. The result indicates that more than half of the users are aware of on/off-campus passwords to access databases. The majority of scholars are satisfied with Internet access, database access, and library facilities in the universities. There is a significant difference between the awareness of on/off-campus passwords and the three selected universities; also between the awareness of on/off-campus passwords and database access in universities.
