This practical session covers how Clemson University Libraries’ metadata team describes their largest digital collection of historical images. It focuses on what the team has learned from the project, including developing workflows and strategies for describing images, creating a local heading controlled vocabulary, and leveraging expertise to streamline metadata creation. The team explains the metadata management tool CollectiveAccess, shares examples from the collection, and discusses benefits of documentation. The session concludes with continued metadata challenges.

We Heard You! Designing An Engaging User Feedback Station, Jean Thrift

In November 2018, Lander University’s Jackson Library replaced their rarely-used traditional suggestion box with a new feedback station installed in the printing area, including open-ended whiteboard prompts and public replies posted to all question/comment forms received. Since then, the library’s users have shared hundreds of forms and whiteboard responses. How to install and manage a feedback station, challenges encountered, and actions taken in response to user feedback are discussed.

Tidying Up: Information Literacy Program Sparks Joy!, April P. Akins

Making a simple adjustment to how we set up our information literacy one shot sessions sparked new joy among the faculty and the librarians. Using Springshare's suite of applications we were able to tidy up the process for requesting, scheduling, and presenting our information literacy one shot sessions. This conference proceeding will provide an overview of what tools we used and how we were able to spark joy in our information literacy program.

Once More, With Feeling: A Case Study In Emotional Intelligence Testing Of Library Staff, Jennifer Wright

Emotional intelligence is key to employee success, yet many libraries do not consider EI in training. 46 library staff completed the Emotify test and a survey assessing their performance. Staff in leadership roles tended to score higher and rate their EI knowledge higher. Staff with lower scores tended to assess the test as not useful. More EI training is needed for nonsupervisory staff, and library administrations should encourage EI training for all staff.

The University of Central Florida (UCF) Libraries has developed a series of research data management sessions to provide support and promote awareness of available resources to the campus community, with an emphasis on outreach to graduate students and faculty. The Libraries does not have a formal research data management team or dedicated positions, and with this in mind, a team of librarians from Reference & Information Services, Digital Initiatives, and Scholarly Communication collaborated to plan opportunities for RDM programming.

This study investigated teachers’ attitude and reading culture of pupils in selected staff primary schools in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The study population consisted of 400 primary four and five pupils and ten staff selected from three staff schools in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria adopting the total enumeration sampling technique. The questionnaire was the main instrument for data collection. It consisted of 42 questions arranged in four sections. The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

This study aims to understand the attitude of students towards digital reading. Survey method was used to conduct the study among the postgraduate students of the universities in Kerala state of India. Stratified random sampling method was used to select a representative sample of 588 students from the teaching departments of the universities. Results reveal that majority of the students have an average level of attitude towards digital reading and the male students have more positive attitudes towards digital reading than the female students. The study investigated the role of library instruction in curbing plagiarism among undergraduates in University of Ilorin. The research design was descriptive survey .The research was guided by two questions and a hypothesis. It was a questionnaire based study. Purposive sampling technique and total enumeration were used to sample the respondents. The target population constituted 382 undergraduates but 235 copies of the questionnaire were found usable which represented 61.1% of the response rate. The World Café (TWC) methodology is a form of action research that develops collective knowledge among individuals and communities to address shared problems. TWC can complement LIS research and practice that is increasingly participatory and community centric. The potentials and pitfalls for TWC are illustrated by ongoing research examining public library service to LGBTQIA+ communities for health information.
