University libraries in Kenya are increasingly relying on e-books for current and up-to-date information. These are also more affordable as they are acquired in bulk through Kenya Library and Information Services Consortium (KLISC). This study was intent on identifying ways in which undergraduate students in public universities in Kenya interact with the e-books. Data was collected in four public universities using mixed methods approach. A survey questionnaire was distributed to 300 third year undergraduate students, while interview schedules were used to guide four undergraduate students’ focus group discussions, interviews with 20 lecturers and 12 library staff. This study attempts to overview the awareness and use of citations databases by researches and faculty members of MIT, MAHE, Manipal. The survey reveals that most of the research scholars are aware of the citation databases and largely use them for their research work and to update subject knowledge. Many of the respondents use the citation databases to select good journals for publishing their papers and to prepare the exhaustive bibliography at the end of their work easily. The study highlights the highly cited publications published by selected five Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) during the period 2010-2020. The IITs are the institutes of eminence and produced the quality scholarly output. They always occupy top positions in the ranking of institutions by different agencies. This current research aims to represent bibliometric mapping of research papers in Malaysia Journal of Library and Information Science between the time 2010 to 2019. Under this investigation, to determine articles published in a year, degree of collaboration (DC), Authorship Pattern and number of citations per article and Co-Authorship Network. A total number of 214 papers were evaluated and analyzed in thirty issues of ten volumes of this journal. Scholars find the journal publishing process exhilarating, baffling and frustrating in equal measure. The professional joy and excitement of receiving an acceptance letter following a long drawn-out process inwhich you have diligently responded to successive rounds of reviewers’ comments is probably only matched by a letter awarding a research grant. Contrast this to the sense of dejection and distress that accompanies a rejection letter. This is further exacerbated if the reviewers’ comments and decision appear to be harsh and if they make little sense. The project is motivated by the following library and community needs. Extracting metadata from scholarly papers is an important text mining problem. Widely used open-source tools such as GROBID are designed for born-digital scholarly papers but often fail for scanned documents, such as Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs). Here we present a preliminary baseline work with a heuristic model to extract metadata from the cover pages of scanned ETDs. The process started with converting scanned pages into images and then text files by applying OCR tools.
