Clearing Out Backlogs From Home: Remote Cataloging Of Posters, Nicole Smeltekop

In 2019, the Libraries purchased a collection of about 500 leftist political posters. These posters mostly originated from Europe, but the collection has an international scope. We set up a workflow that started with the Conservation department unrolling and flattening the posters, me cataloging them, and lastly, the digitization team creating images for our digital repository. As the only graphics cataloger, the original plan was for me to catalog these by myself and have batches of posters scanned by our digital imaging team as I completed cataloging. However, COVID-related work-from-home orders changed how this could be done.

Koha also has Web 2.0facilities like tagging, comment, social sharing and RSS feeds.Koha software is gaining popularity because of its web based architecture, Unicode compatibility, user friendliness and extensive customization possibilities. This situation demands the need for workshops, seminars and technical supports to library professionals for successful implementation of Koha. This article provided a strong theoretical base for the present study.

With the abrupt announcement in late January 2020 that the National Archives at Seattle–placed on 10 acres in the Sand Point neighborhood since 1963–would be "eventually" closed and the records moved to facilities in Riverside, California and Kansas City, Missouri, the surprised dismay from state archivists, researchers, and Native American tribal leaders and Alaska Natives who see their ancestors and heritage directly depicted in the records was quick and loud. The facility holds one million cubic feet of federal records which are accessed by over 700 people visiting its research rooms, and which grow by about 1300 cubic feet annually. …

This paper is based on the literature review on informetrics education in the field of LIS worldwide. The paper addresses the status of informetrics education; extent and levels at which informetrics education is offered; teaching methods for informetrics education; and, challenges associated with informetrics education. The literature reveals that there are 32 countries that offer informetrics education within the field of LIS worldwide. The privacy of users and information are becoming increasingly important with the growth and pervasive use of mobile devices such as wearables, mobile phones, drones, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Today many of these mobile devices are equipped with cameras which enable users to take pictures and record videos anytime they need to do so. In many such cases, bystanders’ privacy is not a concern, and as a result, audio and video of bystanders are often captured without their consent. The paper investigates Indian Bioinformatics research during 2011-2019 using Web of Science database. It attempts to quantify the national contribution to growth efforts and identify areas of citation, h-index and highly cited articles. Also highlighted the growth of Indian bioinformatics output using different scientometrics indicators. The results show the output for collaborative study, top ranked journals and authors, citation of the journals, h-index, p-index score and mapping of co-authorship and cited reference. Whether classes have moved to online delivery or the library's COVID safety procedures include quarantining returned materials, chances are regular, print-based course reserves are not feasible for the Fall 2020 semester. This short presentation will outline the process used by the Alfred University Libraries to evaluate which reserve materials needed alternative access, determine what options were available, and implement changes to preserve access for students. Challenges included limited person-power and time for library staff to devote to analyzing usage and options, limited time for faculty outreach, and limited budget for new materials. During the summer of 2020, due to COVID-19 and preventative financial measures taken by the college, 70% of the library staff at St. John Fisher College were furloughed for approximately three months. This presentation is from the viewpoint of an employee who was furloughed and returned during wave one. What did the process of rebuilding look like? What words did we even use to describe what was happening?

The purpose of this article was to explore the pattern of publications, using bibliometric analysis, of Journal of Documentation for the period of 2005 to 2018. The results of the study shows that a total of 687 articles were published in the 14 years period from 2005 to 2018, with 71 (10.3%) articles being published the highest total in the year 2018. The study confirmed that the maximum number of articles i.e. 304 (43.9%), were published by single authors, out of which, a large number were on research articles.
