Writing in plain language aims to help users find what they need and ensures that the information is both useful and understandable. This is key for distance students whose primary library interaction may be with the library Website. A mix of user research and readability scores can be used to measure whether content is findable, useful, and understandable. There are several strategies authors can adopt to help them write in plain language, including keeping the users' needs and tasks in mind and structuring the content so that it can be quickly scanned. This paper aims to evaluate the scientific publication research productivity in Malaysian Journal of Library and Information Science (MJLIS) for period of nineteen years between 1996 and 2014 with total of 315 research publications. For the purpose of this present study, the various attributes of this publication to know about chronology wise total papers, total authors, total citations, average authors per paper, average citation per paper, exponential growth rate, degree of collaboration, collaborative index, relative growth rate, doubling time, co-authorship index, subject wise distribution, institution and country wise distribution and length of papers have also analyzed. It’S Not Just What You Know, But Who You Know: Social Capital Theory And Academic Library Outreach, Elizabeth Ramsey

The concept of social capital and its contribution to success and well-being in a variety of settings has potential for academic library outreach. Research has found that those with extensive and varied networks of social relationships can benefit in myriad ways, including academic and professional achievement. A connection has also been found between lower levels of social capital and negative effects on individuals as well as communities generally. Academic libraries are strategically positioned to enhance the social capital of their users, effecting positive differences in engagement, retention, and success after graduation.

The Anchor: 2016

The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

The Library And Undergraduate Research In The Liberal Arts: Present Contributions And Future Opportunities, Todd J. Wiebe

This study sought to describe library value as seen through its various contributions to the mentored undergraduate research experiences of students in the arts, humanities, and social sciences at Hope College. Concurrently, it explored new opportunities for how librarians might become more directly connected with students involved in this hallmark of the academic program. Findings were intended to both highlight existing library contributions and initiate a well-informed movement toward aligning library priorities with the greater institutional academic mission.

The study examined the Information needs and seeking behaviour of masters student at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria using Elis information seeking behaviour model. A total of 125 masters students selected from the three departments offering masters degree programme at the faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, University of Ilorin, Nigeria constituted the population of the study. Through a survey design, questionnaire was administered to gather data from the respondents. Four research questions were developed and answered by the respondents. Repurposing library spaces begins with understanding and knowing the local community and community needs. Assessing needs, looking into the future, and seeking creative solutions are activities described by Cathleen Merenda and Gretchen Browne in their co-authored article on their two Long Island libraries. In upstate New York, repurposing space took on a different significance for the Altamont Free Library, as the community worked together to adapt the former historic train station into a vibrant community library.
