Archiving Governance In Palestine, Caitlin M. Davis

Journal of Contemporary Archival Studies

During the 1980s, a historical turn within the discipline of anthropology fueled an ‘archival imaginary’, which encouraged scholars to enter archival spaces, study their documents, and collect the historical ‘context’ that had been missing from previous ethnographic texts. The archive, in other words, became a repository, a site for the extraction of information about a particular topic. In the historiography of Palestine, these activities have proved fruitful; new historians have mined military and state archives in ways that have illuminated the nefarious details regarding the ethnic cleansing of Palestine. Prison Inmates' Challenges In Accessing Library Media Resources In Preparation For Senior School Certificate Examination In Nigeria, Isaac Oluwadare Busayo Mr, David F. Elaturoti

This study examines the prison inmates’ challenges in accessing library media resources in preparation for Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in Nigeria from 2009 to 2013. Three regional prisons in Nigeria that prepare and register inmates for these Examinations were randomly selected for the study. These are Abakaliki prisons in the South-East, Ikoyi prisons in South-West and Kuje prisons in North-Central Nigeria. Five hundred questionnaires were administered on the inmates registered for SSSCE in the various prisons sampled, namely: Abakaliki 160 inmates with a response rate of 142, Ikoyi 240 inmates with a response rate of 209 and Kuje 100 …

This study investigates the management and preservation of non-book materials at the University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University and Ladoke Akintola University. Relevant literature on the need for management, preservation, importance, challenges and factors responsible for deterioration of this non-book materials as well as remedies, suggestion and/or recommendations for improvement was reviewed. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study. The study population consisted of one hundred and forty one (141) staff in the three selected university libraries. The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

In 2013, the Marian Library received the papers of the late John S. Stokes Jr., co-founder of Mary’s Gardens, a Philadelphia organization that taught and encouraged the planting of devotional gardens in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mother. Active in civil rights and social justice movements, he was the director of the Wellsprings Ecumenical Center in Philadelphia. He died in 2007.

Among his papers was a collection of promotional brochures from a variety of religious orders. The University of Dayton Libraries have digitized them and made many of them available in eCommons, the University’s open-access institutional repository. In observance of …

Program Level Assessment In The Library: Impact Of Information Literacy Instruction On English Composition And Speech Communications Courses At College Of Dupage, Jennifer Kelley

This presentation introduces an ongoing study evaluating how the College of DuPage Library’s Information Literacy Instruction Program contributes to students meeting institutional General Education Information Literacy outcomes. Via a cross-sectional exploratory survey, faculty teaching English Composition II and Fundamentals of Speech Communications will provide subjective understanding of information literacy and fact-reporting on use of information literacy services provided by the library. Results will impact the direction of the library’s information literacy instruction program and shape assessment of student learning.

Inclusion of open resources that employ a peer-generated approach is changing who learns what, from whom, and via what means. With these changes, there is a shift in responsibilities from the course designer to motivated and self-directed learner-participants. While much research on e-learning has addressed challenges of creating and sustaining participatory environments, the development of massive open online courses calls for new approaches that go beyond the existing research on participatory environments in institutionally defined classes. Richard Friend Lufkin was a professional civil engineer and head of the Richard Lufkin Company (engineers, draftsmen, artists, and cartographers). He was an Abraham Lincoln scholar and published a number of writings and illustrated maps revolving around Lincoln and his time spent in New England. He was also a popular speaker around New England on Lincoln related topics. In 1957 he traveled to Rome for the purpose of giving a presentation about Lincoln, in Italian, resulting in an honorary membership in the Society of Romans.

Lufkin was a longtime member of the Lincoln Group of Boston. He served as the …
