This paper analyzes 230 research publications of the Panjab University in mathematics during ten years (2005-14), as covered in Scopus International database. The study quantifies publication data in various aspects of performance, such as the publication growth, research impact and quality, national and international collaboration, contribution and impact of authors, major areas of research, preferred channels of research communications and characteristics of higher cited papers. The findings reveal that Panjab University total publications in mathematics has increased at an annual average growth rate of 17.15% and registered an average citation impact per paper of 2.92 and impact factor per paper …

The study assessed the state of electronic collection development (ECD) in Nigerian university libraries. The study employed a descriptive survey design. The study was carried out in three university libraries in Nigeria. The total population of library respondents (Professionals and Paraprofessionals) used for this study was 208. Questionnaire and interview schedule were the instruments used to collect the data for this study. The result of the study revealed that ECD is not yet very effective in Nigeria university libraries. ABSTRACT

The study examined the competency requirements and levels of library and information professionals (LIPs)for updating information services for agricultural research in Nigerian university libraries. Employing descriptive survey design, all the 89 library and information professionals (LIPs) in six federal university libraries (three conventional and three agricultural universities) selected based on purposive sampling method were used for the study. The research employed the use of structured questionnaire, code-named, 'UPINSEQ' and an observation checklist as instrument for collecting data. Librarians across library types and departments frequently provide training materials to each other, library technicians, and student workers. For these materials to be effective, they must contain accurate information and should also follow guidelines for usable document design. Good design makes documents easier to use, helps documents stand out from other pieces of information, and lends credibility to document creators. A few simple tips, such as following Gestalt principles and using plain language, can improve document usability. Abstract: - This study is about scientometric assessment of global literature on Facebook research published during 2005-14. In all 7916 papers were identified on “Facebook Research” from Scopus database covering 10 years period 2005-14. The study analyzed growth of publication data and its distribution by documents type, country of publication, authors, their organizations, and subjects. The study identified most productive countries, organization, authors in Facebook research and determined their global publication share, average productivity and comparative citation impact. The Georgia Knowledge Repository (GKR), an initiative of GALILEO, is a central repository that contains academic and intellectual works produced by Georgia colleges and universities. Established in 2013 and comprised of over 100,000 item records, GKR increases the importance of open access scholarly communication and joins a growing number of academic digital repositories. Colleges and universities are developing research seminars, open access journals, and other scholarly initiatives on campus. Libraries who manage their institutional repository are collaborating with campus departments to preserve the scholarly works of these initiatives. Making A First-Year Experience Course Ipad Intensive: A Cautionary Tale, Ruth L. Baker

University Libraries: Faculty Presentations

This presentation tells the story of an experiment to make a First-Year Experience (FYE) course more engaging and enjoyable through the integration of iPads into the curriculum and the infusion of information-literacy throughout the course. Students analyzed 4 films from classic horror cinema and created cultural-historical documentaries about them. Students worked in groups of 4 or 5 on iPads using the Adobe Voice app and learned how to locate and evaluate sources, incorporate sources into their projects, and cite them properly. An exemplary documentary will be screened for the audience.
