Objective: Review the International Campaign to Revitalise Academic Medicine (ICRAM) Future Scenarios as a potential starting point for developing scenarios to envisage plausible futures for health sciences libraries.
Method: At an educational workshop, 15 groups, each composed of four to seven Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries (AAHSL) directors and AAHSL/NLM Fellows, created plausible stories using the five ICRAM scenarios.
Results: Participants created 15 plausible stories regarding roles played by health sciences librarians, how libraries are used and their physical properties in response to technology, scholarly communication, learning environments and health care economic changes.

The Anchor: 2010

The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Building on an orientation program established by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Libraries' Human Resources unit for all new employees, the Research and Information Department developed a training and orientation program for new employees who participate in the reference desk service pool. A task force composed of service pool members created a checklist of expectations that led to a new mission statement and core values for the department as well as a time line for training new employees. The use of a staff wiki to provide access to the expectations, time line, and other resources is explored. Assessment …

Although The Tipping Point: Global Warming at the Arctic Circle and The Battle for the Arctic come from different filmmakers and different distributors, they work well together as companion films. Both films are under 50 minutes each, making them a good fit for many classroom settings.

The study analyzed the use of Internet services by faculty members of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology in Meerut , Uttar Pradesh, India. Sixty structured questionnaires were distributed among faculty members of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology. Faculty gave information on Internet usage, sources of information about websites, favorite search engines, problems faced by users, satisfaction with the Internet for research purposes, and facilities infrastructure available in the libraries.

The requirement to do research and publication to gain promotion and tenure is growing Nigerian academic libraries. This study surveys the literature on this topic and reports on a survey of librarians at one institution, including their research output, educational background, attendance at conferences, and barriers to doing research. Lack of education and training and lack of time were the primary factors having a negative effect on research output.

Access To Health Information By People Living With Hiv/Aids In Nigeria, Nelson Edewor

This study is a survey of access to health information by people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in Nigeria. A questionnaire was used to collect data from 120 respondents. The data obtained were analysed using simple percentages. The study reveals that libraries are not used as sources of health information by PLWHA. The study recommends that libraries should repackage information for PLWHA, educate users, and organise awareness/outreach services in collaboration with NGOs on the subject of HIV/AIDS.

Information is a key element for decision making and development. People need information to make the best use of the resources and solve problems. In Bangladesh, most people (80 percent) live in villages and Community Information Service (CIS) facilities remain low. Different organizations provide information services but these services are not always made in accordance with ommunity needs. This article discusses initiatives taken in Bangladesh and explores how public libraries can play a key role in developing CIS.
