Each year brings more open access peer-review journals to the humanities and social sciences. Yet despite this proliferation, for-profit publishers continue to dominate, and hold the most prestigious journals in their portfolios, pushing the tipping point imagined by open access advocates seemingly out of reach. This project examines the social life of academic publishing to better understand the obstacles preventing a more robust turn to open access, one that does not simply mean more journals, but one that sees the more prestigious journals opting for an open access platform.

This study focused on the use of ICTs by yam farmers in Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun State. The study made use of cross-sectional research design and data were collected with the aid of structured questionnaire from 150 respondents selected through random sampling technique from five towns in the local government area. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis in finding relationships between variables. The present study is a survey of 48 Nigerian university catalogue librarians’ opinions on the use of mentoring in their professional practice. This paper appraised the utilization of journals by undergraduate students of Babcock University, Nigeria. The study population comprised 400 level students of 2012/2013 academic session totaling 1359. All 400 level students were selected because they had completed their final year research (project) work for the award of Bachelors’ degrees in different areas of study. This paper has made attempt to study the activities and reasons for using Social Networking Sites by the Post Graduate students and research scholars of Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, India. A self structured questionnaire was distributed among the target population and primary data gathered through questionnaire were analysed and discussed in accordance with the objectives of the study. It was found that majority of the respondents to be aware and making use of such applications in their research work. This article details the utilization of student workers to conduct patron population surveys of library computer banks and study rooms at the Clark Memorial Library at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth Ohio. The number of patrons was counted by student employees at hourly intervals over three ten-day periods, garnering 9,295 separate observations with little interruption in day-to-day work flow. The survey resulted in a far more detailed portrait of library usage than is possible with simple gate statistics. The study surveyed information use and job performance of senior non-academic staff in Nigerian universities. Senior non-academic staff are responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of activities within the university. However, in the context of information use and job performance little or no evidence is found of any investigation done. The present study is citation analysis of articles appeared in the online journal, Information Research: an international electronic journal (IR) during the period 2008-2012. The maximum number of articles (57) as well as maximum number of citations (2324) was published in 2008. The average number of citations per article was 43.21. Also, the maximum numbers of articles (92) were having citations between 26-50. As for as form of citations is concerned, Journals were the most preferred form of citations by IR scholars while writing their papers. A nationwide survey study was conducted to gain understanding as to how to prepare public librarians for consumer health information service. Findings indicate that the popular health information needs encountered by public librarians cover a wide variety of topics, including the human body, a medical/health condition, a disease, a medical concept, and fitness/diet/nutrition. Abstract: A proposal for a modest change in LCSH practice (and RDA when chapter 23 is written) to provide a Wikipedia-type disambiguation function for subject headings in library catalogs. Such a change is cost effective, scalable, familiar, and system-agnostic. Furthermore, it is necessary for fulfillment of our catalog objectives.

A large number of government, semi government and private Radio/TV stations or channels exist in India. All of these stations/channels have got small or big libraries with audio/video collection. The collection comprises of around 22 official languages ranging from Asami to Urdu. The collection also comprises of a variety of recording media ranging from earlier gramophone records to present day digital versatile discs (DVDs). Radio talks, interviews, discussions, situation and subject based programmes, musical concerts, songs (folk, classical, geet, ghazals), dramas, sports, humorous programmes, and so on depict the diversity of collection.
