In Focusing on Candidate Experience to Decenter Professionalism in Hiring and Onboarding, participants will engage with the presenters and one another to dive into hiring and onboarding practices within libraries. The workshop will be structured along the hiring to onboarding life cycle with a focus on leading practices for healthy processes. Learning about these processes will help those on the job search in better navigating processes and in making informed decisions about an organization as well as those interested in leadership in considering ways to foster healthy candidate-focused processes. Leaders and managers have an outsized impact on workers’ wellbeing. In facing the reality of constant and unpredictable change, leaders and managers need to consider the humanity of their employees as part of their commitment to equity. We suggest that library leaders and managers need to consider human-centered approaches as part of their leadership toolkit. Human-centered leaders have a strong focus on people and the organizational culture. They layer compassion and empathy in taking actions to fulfill the organization's mission.

Time Towards Tenure Dean’S Procedures For University Libraries, Annie Bélanger

The Dean has the authority to grant time towards tenure as per BOT Policy 4.2.7 at the time of appointment. The policy allows for up to 3 years of equivalency at another academic institution. Once granted, it cannot be subsequently changed, rescinded or revoked. The ability to pause the tenure clock as granted by BOT Policy 4.2.7.2 remains available to faculty members who have been awarded time towards tenure.

This document outlines the approach that the Dean of University Libraries will use in granting time towards tenure in order to advance transparency and accountability in the granting of equivalency.

For decades, the Mary and Jeff Bell Library at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) has promoted library services across campus and provided information literacy instruction upon request. Despite these efforts, the library’s reach was not evenly distributed across subject disciplines or course levels, with over half of the instruction occurring at the first-year level. The TAMU-CC librarians knew that to help students become truly information literate, equitable instruction was needed across more disciplines and throughout all course levels.

The Grand Valley State University Libraries’ digital strategic framework articulates and creates a shared understanding of the principles, values, and decision-making criteria that have shaped the Libraries’ approach to digital investments, priorities, and initiatives in the recent past and will continue to guide digital strategy development through 2025. The framework is a compass that will guide the Libraries’ path through an evolving digital landscape in order to inform efforts within the Libraries’ locus of control as well as the interactions and partnerships with external bodies.
