Pembangunan Indeks Kinerja Industri, Dewi Setiawati, Nachrowi D. Nachrowi

Jurnal Ekonomi dan Pembangunan Indonesia

This research develops Industrial Performance Index and shows annual performance index among industries through all and each indicator from 2004 to 2007. There are three criteria and 19 indicators, (1) output (value added, wage, firm), (2) production factor (labor, capital, and technological progress), (3) production cost (labor and capital productivity, material and energy efficiency). The result shows the best performance industry, (1) in 2007 is transportation industry excluded four or more wheel vehicle, (2) in 2006 is recycling industry, (3) in 2005 is machinery and office equipment industry, (4) in 2004 is food and beverage industry.

A civil servant selection attributes transaction cost. Aim of this conceptual paper is to explain behavior of transaction cost payment from perspective theory of the rationale of economics. This study was conducted by understanding various theories regarding a phenomena of transaction cost payment. This study revealed transaction cost payment as typical self interest and utility maximization (neo-classic rationality), to behave as Al-Nafs Al-Ammarah (Islamic rationality). The transaction cost payment was encouraged by perception, understanding and prior experiences (Keynes rationality), environment (psychology rationality). However, there was a limited scope of information for transaction cost payment (bounded rationality).

This study aims at analyzing the dynamics of food security and the factors that influence food security in Eastern Indonesia. The methodology used is panel data tobit model of 190 districts/municipalities in the Eastern Indonesia from 2008 to 2010. Based on the classification of the food security degree, the majority of households in Eastern Indonesia are categorized as the vulnerable. Food security is affected by percentage of poor people, GRDP per capita, female illiteracy rate and average years of schooling. Based on the elasticity, education has the highest contribution in improving food security in the Eastern Indonesia.

The objective of fiscal decentralization objective in Indonesia is to reduce development disparities. Regarding education development, one crucial issue is access disparity. Using 440 sub provincial database during 2005-2009, this study is aim to analyze the impact of fiscal decentralization in reducing disparity of primary education access. Using fixed-effect model, the result showed that Dana Alokasi Khusus (DAK) for Education, DAK Non Education, and Pendapatan Asli Daerah (PAD) have significant impact in reducing education access disparity along with the wealth and regional characteristics. We try to analyze the impact of Chinese Textile and Garment (T&G) imports, and the internal and external factors to the firm survival and growth of T&G industry in Indonesia, for the period study of 2002 to 2007. Probit regression model is used to analyze the impact of Chinese imports to the survival of firm, while OLS regression model is used to analyze its growth. Why is APBD (Regional Budget) often enacted after the budgeted financial year has started? Is it because of political factor? The research would like to highlight the economic and political perspectives of divided government as one of the factors of the bad performance of the Regional Budget (APBD) enactment. By using logit regression equation model, a result obtained shows that government formations from Legislative General Elections 2004 and Direct Local Elections of the years 2005, 2006, and 2007, such as single minority party, minority coalition, majority coalition, and single majority party, influence the regional late budget of the year 2008-2009.

Number of educated unemployment is increasing every year. Of the 8.59 million unemployed labor force in 2010, 4.8 million of whom are middle and high educated unemployed. Meanwhile, unemployment duration was 11 months. Two step Heckman method is employed to estimate reservation wage. The OLS estimates duration of search for educated unemployment as well as by social, demographic, and regional characteristics. Search duration for middle and high educated workforce is longer than low educated workforce. The reservation wage of highly educated labor force by social, demographic, and regional characteristics is higher than other labor force.

This study contributes to the existing literature by examining energy consumption, energy intensity and its determinants in Indonesia's aggregate and sectoral economy. Index Ideal Fisher uses to decompose two key determinants of changes in energy intensity - efficiency improvements and changes in economic activity - to analyze which determinant is more important in driving improvements in energy intensity. VAR/VECM analysis is used to determine which economic variables affect the aggregate intensity. The study found that energy intensity increased gradually. Resident of the industrialized countries can lower some of their economic risk they face by diversifying their portfolios including foreign assets. In the world with perfect capital mobility, international risk sharing will reduce saving with constant relative risk aversion. The objective of this study to analyze the impact of the establishment of single currency on the degree of international risk sharing and the home bias among country member of European Union (EU). Using panel data, the increasing output correlation between individual countries and group of eleventh countries indicate the adoption of single currency increase the degree of international risk sharing.

This research uses regression approach method to calculate tax effort index and panel regression method to address the impact of central government transfer. This study aims to identify the impact of the fiscal stimulus instrument choices on the economy, and to formulate policy options appropriate with the fiscal stimulus in boosting the economy, especially on economic growth, employment, and household income. The analysis tools is Applied General Equilibrium Model for Fiscal Policy Analysis (AGEFIS) using the Social Accounting Matrix database (SAM) of Indonesia in 2005. This study aims to determine the relationship between local government spending, agricultural productivity, and poverty in Indonesia for the period of 2005-2008. Using econometric models of the panel and panel- simultaneous, this study find the evidence that local government spending on infrastructure and education significantly affect agricultural productivity and poverty. The study also found that the value of multiplier effect of local government spending on poverty, roads is the largest, followed by education (the literacy rate) and irrigation.

The stable fluctuation of Rp against the US$ during the free floating exchange rate regime in 2002-2007 raises the existence of fear of floating exchange rate phenomenon in Indonesia. The GARCH method is use to verify this phenomenon. Moreover, Time Varying Parameter and Error Correction Mechanism method shows the economic reason behind the Monetary Authority's response in stabilizing rupiah. Depreciation and increasing volatility of Rupiah raises inflation and bank Non-Performing Loans, while appreciation and increasing volatility of Rupiah, reduce the net export. Economic development in the South East Asia, which is at the stage of industrialization, has high dependency on energy consumption. This paper examines the relationship between energy consumption and economic development in the region. Using cross-sectional data, this study find the relationship between energy demand and per capita GDP, population and industrial share of output. Oil contributes 80% to energy consumption followed by electricity and natural gas. The result also shows no evidence of relationship between economic crisis and energy consumption. It suggest diversification of energy use and promoting more efficient alternative energy source to increase economic growth.

Using Logistic Regression and Hedonic Price Model, this study aims to find the social-economic factors influencing the demand and willingness to pay (WTP) for clean water supply and proper sanitation. This study find that education and age of household head are the affecting factors. Also, it found that per capita expenditure affects the availability of access for sanitation and clean water for all household group. WTP for clean water and sanitation in urban is greater than in rural. In additions, WTP of non poor households are greater than poor household, except for urban area.

The aim of this paper was to determine the effect of public sector expenditure to economic growth and poverty in all provinces in Indonesia during period 2006 to 2008. Using Full Information Maximum Likelihood (FIML) approach, the result showed that public sector expenditure on education and health sector had significant effect in boosting economic growth. This paper attempts to examine the impact of rising fossil fuel prices on the increasing impact on the demand of alternative fuels (biofuels), and its impact on food availability in Indonesia. An econometric model using simultaneous equations is employed. An increase in world crude oil price for 0,192 percent caused the price of real Indonesian palm oil export raised by 10,64 percent. Indonesia is among the few countries that adopts dual banking system where Islamic banks run in parallel and compete with conventional banks. Although under such a system banking competition would be expected to be high, data tend to show the opposite case, as three Islamic banks acquired 65 percent of market share in Indonesia.
