This research is conducted to investigate the correlation of fiscal deficit to economic growth in Indonesia during 1990-2012. Contribution of this study is the use of cointegration and Error Correction Model, we confirmed mainstream macroeconomic theory where fiscal deficit has positive and significant impact to economic growth. Government is recommended to undertake fiscal deficit within the 3% boundary allowed by State Budget Law.

Indonesia Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA) is the first bilateral economic agreement for Indonesia. IJEPA is expected to increase Indonesia manufacture industry competition because the establishment of USDFS and MIDEC. Post IJEPA, Price-cost margins (PCM) fluctuated. PCM has been generally used as a competition indicator, because PCM related to average profit of an industry. This study uses panel data of large and small industry within 2004-2012 periods. This study conclude that IJEPA able to make PCM of manufacture industry fall through efficiency of input factors use, the cost of materials price downfall, and economies of scale in certain industries.

This study aims to analyze the food security determinant of households by household characteristics in Indonesia using descriptive and multinomial logit analyses, and determine the characteristics of households that need intervention of Raskin in Indonesia. Descriptive and multinomial logit analyses found that households more food secure if the education of household head is higher, number of household members is smaller, the household head work in non-agriculture, income per capita is larger, and the area where household live in urban areas. Generally, Raskin relatively on target. Raskin should be prioritized on women-headed households with low education, and work in agriculture/non-agriculture.

Stunting is an indicator for chronic nutritional status that can provide a picture of overall socio-economic disruption in the past, starting from six months old infant and continue until the age of 18 years and can not be corrected again. The study concluded that infant growth monitoring, access to sanitation, health budget allocation per capita, income per capita and female literacy rate are significantiy reducing the occurrence of stunting. This study aims to measure the effect of bank credit financing to value-added of manufacturing industry in Indonesia. This study uses the data of manufacturing industry sub-sector level. The data used are sub-sector credit, value added, labor, fixed capital, the minimum wage, the exchange rate, and the Gross Domestic Produc. This study period is 2002 – 2012 and using a Two-Stage Least Square with Fixed Effect as a estimation methode. Finally, the results showed that the significant effect of bank credit financing to encourage value-added manufacturing industry in Indonesia.

Expanding financial access is one among many ways in developing financial sector. This study analyzed the connection of communities characteristics to the access of financial institution which can be used in establishing the accurate development strategy of financial inclusion. This study used three approaches: descriptive analysis, factorial analysis, and path analysis based on questionnaires distributed to 600 respondents across Province of Bali. The result of the study shows that the most important factor in developing financial access is quality, especially the speed of transaction. Moreover, individual quality improvement in either education or wealth stimulates the utilization of branchless banking services.

Discrepancy of income between regions in South Sumatera province which tend to increase indicating high inequality. This study aims to analyze income convergence year 2006-2012 with sigma convergence and beta conditional convergence. The result with FD GMM show the existence income convergence and require 22 years to decrease half inequality by involving human capital and physic capital, that show slow process the convergence. Long road with small contribution to GDP per capita, causing slow income convergence. Hence, human capital and physic capital that existing especially long road should be optimized to accelerate income convergence between regions in South Sumatra province.

West Java province's junior secondary school enrollment rate is still below the Millennium Development Goal of universal primary education by 2015. Panel data of 26 districts in West Java, Indonesia, was used to analyze the determinant factors of junior secondary school enrollment rate. The study shows that GRDP per capita and education level of the household head positively influence junior secondary enrollment rate, in contrast poverty rate and number of child labour had negative impact. This study is conducted to develop a model that can be used to estimate the VAT revenue potential, tax gaps, and the impact of policy changes using the Input-Output Table. The amount of VAT revenue projection generated by this model is close to the VAT revenue realization. The result of this study shows that the VAT compliance rate is only around 53%. Improving VAT compliance rate would generate a higher impact on VAT revenue as compared with raising the VAT rate. The implication of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015 is free mobilization of goods, services, labours, and capital among the member countries. This encourages Indonesia to strengthen its commitments on the construction service sector. This study aims to map Indonesia's commitments in the construction service sector under the ASEAN Framework Agreement on Services (AFAS) with Hoekman Index and investigates the impacts on the macroeconomic and sector performances. Sustainability of System of Rice Intensification (SRI) requires rural institution role. The study was conducted in Karawang and uses institutional economics approach and logit regression. The analysis shows potential problems of SRI related with principal-agent/institutional relation and economics transaction costs. Strengthening the activities within farmer groups will reduce economics transaction costs in beginning of application. Fiscal decentralization can create efficiency and effectiveness to promote growth and change in economic structures as well as to reduce inequalities amongst regions. This study intends to find out whether the fiscal decentralization policies during 2001-2010 contribute to the shift of economic sectors and inequality rates amongst districts/municipalities in the Province of Central Sulawesi. Pro-poor growth program has not been effective reducing poverty in Papua because the government does not have complete information about the spatial variation of poverty-causing factors (spatial heterogeneity). Therefore, this study will analyze poverty-causing factors using Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) model. This study finds that the influence of the cultivated land area, use of technical irrigation, source of drinking water, and the electrical infrastructure vary spatially. In additions, multivariate K-means clustering shows that subdistricts are spatially clustered by geographical conditions. These results imply that poverty alleviation interventions should be different for different areas.

This paper aims to analyze the effect of poverty on migration by using the IFLS 2000 and 2007 data. The results of binary and multinomial logistic regressions on all adults, adults in urban areas, and adults in rural areas show that the poor are less likely to migrate than the non-poor except for the case of urban to urban migration, where the poor are more likely to migrate than the non-poor. The results for other economic characteristics such as total value of assets and land ownership for farming consistently show that better economic conditions lower the probability to migrate.

This research identified and analyzed school participation of children in Indonesia from 7 to 15 years old. Using data collected by Survey Sosial Ekonomi Nasional (SUSENAS) in 2012, probit model estimates that there are more probabilities in boys rather that girls to leave their education. As well as living environment supported, citizen have more well educated children than villagers. Elementary schools had been highly needed to fulfil school supply so that out-of-school-children level will drop as low as possible. But an increase in junior high school supplied will not turned out as it applied on elementary schools.

This study examines the impacts of fiscal capacity on the acceleration of poverty alleviation through a dynamic simultaneous equations model using empirical data of 23 provinces and conducting historical simulation. The increasing of fiscal capacity from local taxes and tax-revenue sharing have significant impact on poverty reduction, particularly in agricultural household, which has the largest share in number of poor in Indonesia indicated by larger decline of agricultural headcount index than industrial and trade headcount index. This research analyzes the impacts of raw material export restriction on firm performance: value-added, labor, and productivity growth, as well as firm survival ability in the rattan-based final good industry in the 1995-2004 period, which are distinguished based on firm size. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of biogas project in Suntenjaya Village, Bandung and identify factors that affect revenues, environment and wider economic benefit of the project, using benefit cost analysis, multiple regression, and descriptive analysis. The results show that biogas project is feasible to be developed. Variables that significantly influence on the biogas project are total amount of poultry's waste, total amount of water, and labor. Economic impact of biogas from employment is 1.96%. Furthermore, fuel cost savings of biogas is IDR1,406,160. Indonesia has been still experiencing regional economic disparity problems, including in labour productivity. This study employs dynamic panel approach to analyze convergence and to identify determinants of regional labour productivity during the period of 1987-2011. The System Generalized Method of Moments (Sys-GMM) estimation results show that regional convergence process occurs with speed of convergence of 0.06518 per year. Physical capital stock, human capital stock, total trade, and real wage give positive impacts. This study aims to explain the effect of socio-demographic variables i.e. sex, wage, employment status, and marital status on commuting in Jabodetabek. The result of binary logistic regression using Sakernas 2012 shows that male are more likely to commute than female. Male in formal sector have the highest probability to commute while by marital status, unmarried male have the highest probability to commute. The level of wage is positively related with the probability to commute although at certain level of wage, an increase in wage increases probability to commute among male lower than probability to commute among female.

Current account balance has an important role of measuring the direction and the amount of international loan. This study analyzes Indonesian external balance due to its solvency condition of external debt and sustainability of current account balance during 1970-2007 by intertemporal-model approach of current account. The results of cointegration test and bivariate autoregressive (VAR) indicate that solvency condition holds, but not for the sustainability condition of current account balance. It means that Indonesia has capability to payback its external debt.

The intergovernmental transfer system currently applied in Indonesia is intended to prevent the intervention of political powers. However, there are indications of political determinants behind central government transfers to sub-national governments. This study investigated the severity of exploitation of working children and factors determining exploitation of working children. This study used data resulted from National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) 2011 and utilized logistic regression as the analytical tool. The study examines saving behavior in ASEAN 5+3 namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Japan, China, and Korea during 1991-2007 and its implication toward global imbalances. By using fixed effect panel data regression, this research shows that government spending, interest rate and inflation, financial development through private domestic credit and stock market capitalization along with the 1997 Asian crisis significantly affect the saving behavior. As a result, a macroeconomic stability through interest rate and inflation, the reinforcement of financial development and crisis anticipation policy are required to support global re-balancing through global saving redistribution.
