Using co-integration, the results show that the movement of Indonesian foreign exchange market and capital market has moved to long-run equilibrium with other currencies and indices from partner countries, while the short-run equilibrium between markets have been proved by using VECM. The Indonesian case supports portfolio balance approach introduced by Frankel. The increasing of IHSG attracts capital inflows and makes the demand for domestic currency higher, and IDR becomes appreciation. Indonesian market has strong linkages with Asian regional markets especially with Hong Kong market, while having no relationship with US market.

This paper presents an analysis of the effect of fiscal policy in Indonesia based on a VAR ap­ proach. Fiscal policy shocks are identified as a structural residuals related to unexpected government expenditures and tax revenues. Impulse responses are then used to simulate the dynamic response of key macroeconomics variables of shocks. The analysis shows that GDP responses negatively to tax shocks, and positively to expenditure shock. Moreover, disposable income and private consumption react negatively to taxation and positively to government expenditures. Altogether the results are consistent with that of Keynesian models.

This study estimates the banking efficiency in the Province of West Sumatera for the years of 2007-2008. Using 19 samples of commercial banks, the estimation applies the Stochastic Frontier Approach (SFA) model in order to analyze the cost efficiency of commercial banks. This study finds that the bank's cost function is significantly affected by price of labors, price of funds, and loans. The results of the banking efficiency estimation show that in annually almost banks have more than 80 percent of the efficiency level. In the average estimation, it also shows the same result. This research aims to explore quantified of monetary use value of food quality in the context of food security. Data were obtained from interviews towards 561 people of rural area in regency of Sleman, Bantul, Kulon Progo and Gunungkidul which are all in Yogyakarta Special Province or Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY). This research uses close-ended contingent valuation method (CVM). The result points out that the public willingness to pay for better food quality is high. Thus, the public loss which is caused by poor management of food security policy will be very high in financial term.

This paper studies the effect of domestic and foreign macroeconomy performances on the foreign direct investment (PMA) in Indonesia, employing descriptive and inferencial (econometric model) analyses. The national economic grcwth and national interest rate affect significantly PMA in Indonesia. While the national inflation rate positively effected on PMA, but resuits show that hyperinflation contributes to decreasing PMA. The macroeconomic improvement in some competitor countries, especially Chinese and Thailand tends to decrease PMA in Indonesia. This study aims to elaborate the effect of short- term portfolio investment flows to the exchange rate. Using the method of Vector Auto Regressive (VAR), this study employs quarterly data from 1997 to 2007.
