Farmland Rental Markets: Current Issues, Practices And Conditions, Bruce Johnson, Larry Janssen, Michael Lundeen
Economics Staff Paper Series (1969 - 2017)
By virtually every standard. U.S. production agriculture appears in the midst of an accelerated structural change. Financial stress on the heels of the expansionary 1970s political uncertainty over the government's future role in agriculture technological upheaval in the form of increasing productivity in competitive nations and in the emergence of biotechnology are all currently affecting farming and shaping its future. These changes have potentially serious implications for the use. value. and ownership of agricultural land. Consequently debate is keen as to the aggregate impacts of these structural developments on land use (or non-use) and as to their associated effects on …

An Economic Analysis Of Farm Machinery Complement Selection, Todd Lone, Larry Janssen, Herb Allen
An Economic Analysis Of Farm Machinery Complement Selection, Todd Lone, Larry Janssen, Herb Allen
Economics Staff Paper Series (1969 - 2017)
Optimal farm machinery complements were developed, using mixed-integer programming techniques, for several farm sizes, cropping patterns and different methods of financing (lease and credit-purchase). Financing methods did not affect machinery complement selection but did have an impact on farm profitability and cash flow.

Nebraska Farm Real Estate Market Developments 1985-86, Bruce B. Johnson, Ronald J. Hanson
Nebraska Farm Real Estate Reports
Results of the 1986 Nebraska farm real estate market survey indicate that farmland values continued to fall sharply during the past year as the current farm financial crisis persists. For the state, the average percentage decline from February 1, 1985 to February 1, 1986 was 24.7 percent. This drop in Nebraska land values of nearly 25 percent was even larger than the 23.5 percent decline reported a year ago. These percentage declines of the past two years now represent the largest decreases ever recorded in USDA's statistical series for Nebraska which dates back to 1912.
This downward trend in Nebraska …

Developments In The World Commodity Markets During The Second Quarter Of 1986, Central Bank Of Nigeria Cbn
Economic and Financial Review
All the items, except rubber and ginger, recorded price declines ranging from 0.6 per cent for coffee to 34.1 per cent for palm kernel. The prices of rubber and ginger increased by 4.3 and I. 7 per cent, respectively. The major factor responsible for the deterioration was the effect of failure to reach positive agreement on most of the international commodity organisations, particularly in respect of cocoa. Other factors which helped to depress the market included the sharp decline in oil prices which reduced the purchasing power of affected countries, appreciable gains by the pound sterling over the US dollar …

First, it takes an overview of the agricultural situation in African countries in general and in Nigeria in particular in the last twenty years and suggests the critical factors that should guide government activities for agricultural financing in the light of the general structure of agricultural production. Second, it identifies the types and magnitudes of government assistance in agricultural financing in Nigeria and finally it discusses some of the main problems surrounding the efforts of the government in …

The Impact Of Twelve-Mile Canyon Mudslides On Downstream Water Users In Sanpete County, Utah, Danny L. Boore
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of major landslides during 1983-84 in Twelve-Mile Canyon, Sanpete County, Utah on agricultural water users in the Gunnison Irrigation System. Sediment content and stream flow data were gathered from Twelve-Mile Creek during the irrigation season of 1984. This information was used to estimate the sediment load of Twelve-Mile Creek and to compare historical averages. A survey of Gunnison Irrigation System Water Users was conducted to obtain information defining the damage and production losses caused by an increase in sediment carried by irrigation water. This information was tabulated and used as …

This book is a collection of twenty-six (26) papers presented at the First National Seminar on "The Role of the Private Sector in Nigerian Agriculture", organised by the Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute, Ilorin in October, 1983. This book can be said to be a very useful volume. This is because it contains information which will be useful to both the public and private sectors particularly at this critical period of renewed emphasis on agricultural development and efforts by government to get the private sector to be more involved in the development of the agricultural sector. Book Details: Osuntogun, …
