The Utah legislature passed Senate Bill 203 in 1975, requiring all public secondary schools to offer instruction on the essentials and benefits of free enterprise. The problem is that no evaluation has been made to determine if the specific requirement is being fulfilled. The purpose of this study is to determine interpretations and implementations of Senate Bill 203. Questions in four areas were studied.

The specific objective of this research was to determine the effectiveness of training on understanding empathy in the teacher training process.

Subjects were Utah State University students enrolled in Elementary Education during winter quarter 1976. The experimental group was composed of 34 subjects and the control group of 27 subjects.

Both groups were administered a pretest. The experimental group then received the treatment which consisted of a training program designed to help them to be able to (1) define, (2) recognize instances of, and (3) to emit empathic behavior. Seventy-five directors of the Institutes of Religion of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in California, responded to a questionnaire regarding their public relations' practices. Institute directors with formal training in public relations utilized more practices, an average of 30.4, than directors without formal training who used an average of 26.9 practices. Institute directors in different locations (divisions) did not differ in the average number of practices used. Seventeen percent of the directors had structured public relations' programs. Directors emphasized more frequently public relations practices relating to priesthood leaders (72 percent) and students (67 percent) than practices relating …

Also included is a thesis (1956) and a rough draft, final draft, and book reviews pertaining to his book John Forsyth: Political Tactician (1962). This study describes the development and evaluation of a communications skills course for elementary teacher inservice training. The development and evaluation strategy centered on a research and development (R & D) process. The major steps of the R & D process were: (1) product selection, (2) literature review, (3) prototype planning, (4) development of preliminary prototype, (5) expert appraisal and product revision, (6) main fieldtest, (7) product revision, and (8) operational fieldtest.

The course was composed of 13 communication skills with 20 behavioral objectives and evaluations. Experiences in self-awareness and practical application of the skills presented were stressed.

Results of this study do seem to indicate that learning disabled children enrolled in a heterogeneously grouped classroom develop appraisals of self in academic areas separate from a more general, overall perception of self. If this is the case, estimates of a global self-concept may cloud important differences in the individual components of self-concept.

The subjects were 165 randomly selected members of the academic commun- ity of the University of the Pacific. The sample represented the following academic categories: university president, academic vice-president, deans/ provosts, crpartment chairmen, and faculty.

The relationship of level of education to degree of "internality" in home managers was investigated. Level of education was defined as the number of years of formal education completed. The degree of "internality" was defined as a score on Rotter's I-E Scale.

The instruments used were a background questionnaire and Rotter's I-E Scale.

The background questionnaire and the I-E Scale were administered to 163 home managers from Ogden, Utah, who were members of selected women's church affiliated organizations.

This study examines the long-term effects of the Indian Placement Program on the enrolled students' scholastic achievement as measured by standardized tests given in the schools. It also examines intelligence test scores and changes in them during years in the Program. The following effects on achievement were also examined: sex, age and grade at initial placement, and the child's adjustment as measured by number of foster homes in which he had been placed.
