Is Guardian Permission A Barrier To Online Sexual Health Research Among Adolescent Males Interested In Sex With Males?, Kimberly Nelson, Michael P. Carey, Celia B. Fisher
Is Guardian Permission A Barrier To Online Sexual Health Research Among Adolescent Males Interested In Sex With Males?, Kimberly Nelson, Michael P. Carey, Celia B. Fisher
Psychology Faculty Publications
Institutional review boards (IRBs) that refuse to grant waivers of guardian permission may hinder research to inform needed online sexual health interventions for adolescent males interested in sex with males (AMSM). Information on the challenges of obtaining (or waiving) guardian permission is imperative. In June and July 2017, AMSM (N = 206; ages 14 to 17) in the United States completed an online survey on sexual behaviors, sexually explicit media use, and sexual education exposure/needs. A mixed-methods approach assessed attitudes toward guardian permission for the current survey and future online sexual health intervention research. Logistic regression models assessed differences by …
Fine Efficacy: An Experimental Study Of The Effect Of Daily Fines On Borrower Return Habits, Andrea Boehme, Katie Mihaly
Fine Efficacy: An Experimental Study Of The Effect Of Daily Fines On Borrower Return Habits, Andrea Boehme, Katie Mihaly
University Libraries Faculty Publications
Fines have long been seen as a method to ensure items are returned on time. Recently the need to charge patrons for not returning items has come into question. Many libraries have gone fine free to gain good will with their patrons and reallocate staff. To better determine the impact incremental fines have on patron behavior, we conducted an experimental study, charging one group fines and not charging the other. We found that there was not a statistically significant change in either fines accumulated or amount of material borrowed. The data suggests patrons keep the item for as long as …

Evaluating A Peer-Implemented Intervention For Increasing Physical Activity During School Recess, Carolina E. Luque
Evaluating A Peer-Implemented Intervention For Increasing Physical Activity During School Recess, Carolina E. Luque
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Physical inactivity is a significant issue in the United States that has been linked to multiple health concerns. Few studies have used behavioral interventions during opportunities available in school, such as recess. There is a need for low effort and accessible interventions to increase children’s physical activity during these opportunities. The purpose of the current study was to evaluate the efficacy of a peer-implemented recess intervention that uses student pairing and feedback to increase physical activity. Step count was recorded by a pedometer. Peer leaders were trained in a group using behavioral skills training. A new leader performed the task-analyzed …
Using Contingency Maps To Teach Requests For Information, Roberto Andrade-Plaza
Using Contingency Maps To Teach Requests For Information, Roberto Andrade-Plaza
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Autism spectrum disorder is a developmental disorder characterized by social, behavioral, and communicative deficits. Although there is no known cure for autism, there are many research-based interventions that aid in strengthening such deficits, especially those associated with failures of stimulus control One way to address such failures is to provide additional stimuli that enhance or override information provided by naturally occurring stimuli. Contingency maps are one such example. This study uses an observing response (i.e., hand-raising) to allow the subjects to request contingency maps. The purpose of this study is to identify if contingency maps function as reinforcers and if …

An Evaluation Of Dating Violence Risk Factors For Division Iii Student-Athletes, Nicole Cantor
An Evaluation Of Dating Violence Risk Factors For Division Iii Student-Athletes, Nicole Cantor
Theses and Dissertations
College students are at particular risk for dating violence (DV) perpetration and victimization. One group of college students who may be at increased risk is college student-athletes. Currently, no information exists on the dating and relationship behaviors of both male and female Division III student-athletes. The current study looks to identify both the frequency of DV perpetration and victimization among men and women along with specific risk factors for DV perpetration and victimization. We hypothesize that hazardous drinking and hostile sexism may be risk factors for DV perpetration and victimization among men and women. Among men, both hostile sexism and …
An Essay On Fiscal Policy Transmissions In Currency Union, Nikhil Damodaran
An Essay On Fiscal Policy Transmissions In Currency Union, Nikhil Damodaran
LSU Doctoral Dissertations
The effect of changes in fiscal policy for open economies are distinct and different from their effects in closed economies. The main idea behiend this dissertation is to examine why and how these differences affect the choice of fiscal instrument designed to provide stimulative effects to an open economy in a currency union. In extending a two country model and adapting it to examine trade within a currency union, I provide a way to truncate rational expectations equilibrium involving two large countries with endogenous relative price determination in chapter three. Using this model, I show that a spending increase is …

Jurnal Kajian Bimbingan dan Konseling
In recent year, there is a number of news in the mass media on violence in the school, including bullying. The high number of juvenile delinquency is the result of a lack of ability to control emotions in an acceptable way, causing the individual to easily engage the group's influence to perform negative behavior, including bullying behavior.
