In the fall of 2008, Rachel Raimist and Walter Jacobs collaboratively designed and taught the course “Digital Storytelling in and with Communities of Color” to 18 undergraduate students from a variety of disciplines. Candance Doerr-Stevens audited the class as a graduate student. This article examines the media making processes of the students in the course, asking how participants used digital storytelling to engage with themselves and the media through content creation that both mimicked and critiqued current media messages. This paper explores the emergence of social work as a profession in Vietnam and the ways in which international collaboration can play a role in its development. The paper reviews the literature pertaining to the social issues that have accompanied recent rapid social and economic change in Vietnam. The authors then describe recent developments in social work and social work education in Vietnam in response to these emerging problems. The emergence of the Internet has provided people with the ability to find and communicate with others of common interests. Unfortunately, those involved in the practices of child exploitation have also received the same benefits. Although law enforcement continues its efforts to shut down websites dedicated to child exploitation, the problem remains uncurbed. Despite this, law enforcement has yet to examine these websites as a network and determine their structure, stability and susceptibleness to attack. Each CACTUS brings new excitement along with new challenges. CACTUS 2010 was exciting because it was larger than in past years, more freshmen enrolled than in previous years, and our topic “What should we do about the death penalty? Keep it? Change it? Abolish it?” was by far the most profound, with implications touching on topics such as social justice, safety, equality, religious and ethical arguments, the Bill of Rights, and federalism, to name just a few.

The article begins with a brief history of aesthetic theory. Particular attention is given to the postructuralist ‘aesthetic return’: the resurgence of interest in aesthetics as an ontological foundation for human beingin- the-world. The disordered individual-as-emergentartist- and-artifact, who is at the centre of this ‘aesthetic return’, is then translated into the ‘dis’-organization that is the firm. Eight face-to-face interviews were carried out with masters' level social workers at San Bernardino County's Gifford office of Children and Family Services. African American Women continue to contract HIV/AIDS at an alarming rate. Of all the women living with Aids in the United States, 64% were African American and two out of three African American women got HIV from having unprotected sex with a man. The purposes of the study are to identify perceived barriers to HIV testing of the intimate partners of African American Women and subsequently identify an effective couples of HIV testing strategy. This paper discusses the problem the researcher finds in the lack of information on what people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) are looking for in support groups that are designed around specifically for people with MS. This paper discusses what MS is, the reasoning on designing a study on this topic, and the significance of the project to social work. The type of research design that was used to find this information was a survey questionaire. Theoretical within the context of a social comparison model. A total of 58 people completed the survey.

The goal of this research was to provide information to social work professionals about the benefits of self-help mutual aid and psycho-educational support groups in the community, and to examine the Latino attitudes toward support groups. The research examines some Latino cultural values such as familism, social network, and spirituality. The various Spanish and Spanish/English speaking support groups that participated in this study were from San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and Riverside counties. The sample size in this research was 30 Latino individuals from four Spanish, or Spanish/English self-help mutual aid, and psycho-educational support groupsavailable in the Inland Empire.

This study examined four cartoons in order to determine the extent of the violence, type of violence, and the context of violence in both dated and modern cartoons. The purpose of this study is to understand parent's experiences of accessing services for their ASD children. It was the researcher's goal to document parent's stories and experiences of accesssing services for their ASD children. This research project engaged 11 families in in-depth interviews exploring their experiences accessing services. Four areas of services emerged from the interviews: diagnostic services, services through Regional Centers, services offered at their child's school, and other services accessed (i.e. through insurance or community organizations).

The purpose of this project was to explore the level of father involvement in the upbringing of their special needs child. For most parents, raising children is filled with great moments, milestones and achievements as well as being highly stressful and overwhelming, especially if the upbringing involves a special needs child. The levels of stress involved in the upbringing of a developmentally disabled child are intense and can often times hinder the healthy growth and development of the family unit. The results in this study indicated that fathers were highly involved with their special needs children.
