The study presented a model of crisis communications that can be used as a general guideline for any natural disaster worldwide to disseminate risk and safety information to the public efficiently. A survey was conducted on 220 undergraduate students at a midsouth university examined the crisis communication model. The results revealed that the majority of participants (80%) had more than one natural crisis experience which allowed them to learn from past experiences. Data from the 1999-2001 World Values Survey (WVS), the Environmental Sustainability Index (ESI), and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) World Factbook are used to assess individual and national level explanations of environmental attitudes among 34,555 respondents from 27 countries. Three analyses are presented: an individual-level analysis that examines the previously assessed correlates of environmental attitudes; a national-level analysis of the relationship between a variety of national-level characteristics and aggregate environmental attitudes; and a multilevel (HLM) model assessing these effects simultaneously. Keberhasilan program KB mengendalikan tingkat kelahiran di Indonesia selama lebih dari tiga dekade tidak terlepas dari peran petugas Penyuluh Keluarga Berencana (PKB). Di Rwanda, keaktifan penyuluhan oleh PKB dapat meningkatkan prevalensi kesertaan akseptor hingga 29%. Sejak tahun 2004, pascakebijakan desentralisasi di Indonesia, jumlah PKB menurun drastis hingga menyisakan dua pertiga dari jumlah awal sekitar 3.500 petugas. Dampak perubahan tersebut tercermin pada angka fertilitas total (TFR) Indonesia berdasarkan data SDKI 2007 yang bertahan sama dengan data SDKI 2002-2003 (2,6 anak per wanita). Penelitian ini bertujuan mendapatkan informasi tentang pelayanan kesehatan yang diberikan oleh rumah sakit kepada masyarakat miskin di enam wilayah Indonesia. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan subjek penelitiannya adalah masyarakat miskin yang sedang dan/atau pernah mendapatkan pelayanan kesehatan di rumah sakit di enam wilayah Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention model designed to enhance practitioners’ biological lens when using a biopsychosocial-spiritual model of holistic assessment and planning. The specific intervention utilized is a course curriculum developed to broaden human service professionals’ (including clinical social work professionals) understanding of attachment theory, neuroscience and trauma informed methods of practice. This paper explores the process of embedding information literacy into a basic oral communication course. Discussion includes student performance as an impetus for change, collaborative course design between the oral communication teaching team and instructional librarians, and assessment initiatives. Peer victimization is characterized by acts of physical, relational, and verbal aggression that can contribute to maladjustment. Youths’ responses to peer victimization are guided by social information-processing (SIP) skills that impact their adjustment. Maladjustment can contribute to biases in SIP. Biased processing occurs when youth rely on existing schemas without attending to cues from the immediate social context. These processing deficits contribute to the enactment of problematic responses that may lead to further maladjustment. However, not all youth exhibit SIP deficits. A recent study identified four adjustment clusters based on differences in aggression, anxiety, depression, social acceptance, and victimization within …

This paper aims to conduct a precise test of the political economy hypothesis linking income inequality and economic growth. By choosing covariates from a detailed county-level dataset and assuming that U.S. counties experience perfect capital mobility, I shut off the four possible channels linking inequality and growth other than political economy. This is a first in an empirical literature that has reported conflicting findings with observations of states and countries. I also present thematic maps to illustrate the cross-county variation in key growth determinants that is masked by state-level studies. The aim of this study is to determine the semantic construction in Indone- sian language by pre-school-age children. The present research consisted of a longitudinal study of five pre-school-age children. The study of these five children is based on the developmental psycholinguistic and semantic-pragmatic studies. To collect the data, we used the observation, recording, and interview technique. The results show that the semantic construction of word meaning in Indonesian language by pre-school-age children consisted of: (1) over-specification, (2) overgeneraliza- tion, (3) intersection, (4) towards meaning spesification, and (5) meaning associa- tion. This article investigates the theft of law books in the Nigerian university law libraries. A total of 15 libraries were used as research subjects. Data was gathered using a questionnaire. Result show that virtually all the libraries had experienced the loss of law books. Reference books in law are the main target. The cost implications of the thefts are examined. Possible causes of the theft of law books are also reviewed and suggestions that might reduce the rate of theft are provided.

This spring, a series of well-coordinated and successful strikes in foreign-invested enterprises in China made headlines all around the world. Young migrant workers openly and forcefully articulated demands for higher wages, better representation, and more consideration of their “spiritual” and mental well-being. These demands have led to increased speculation that China’s current economic boom is winding down, as its growth strategy founded in part on cheap migrant labor from rural areas faces domestic and international difficulties.

Object Discrimination Using A Multi-Wavelength Photonic Sensor, Kavitha Venkataraayan, Sreten Askraba, Kamal E. Alameh, Clifton L. Smith

International Cyber Resilience conference

A bench prototype photonic-based sensor for object discrimination is described. A combination module, which allows five laser diodes of different wavelengths to overlap and sequentially emit identically-polarised light beams through a common aperture, is presented. The key visible and infrared wavelengths are selected from sample objects spectral signatures. A cylindrical optical quasi-cavity structure is designed to generate 15 laser spots for each laser. The intensity of the reflected light from each spot is detected by a high speed line scan image sensor. Object discrimination is accomplished by calculating the slope values between selected wavelengths in the blue to infrared range.
