Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

This study examines how the difficult heritage of the Thai–Burma Railway is curated and interpreted in Kanchanaburi, Thailand. As debates in contemporary museology evolve, museums are increasingly expected to function as inclusive platforms with social responsibility. Although the railway was constructed in Thailand, its traumatic memories are shared transnationally among Allied prisoners of war (POWs), Asian laborers, Japanese imperial military, and local Thai communities, making its representation complex. The research aims to understand how difficult heritage is curated through a case study of the Thailand–Burma Railway Centre (TBRC), focusing on its curatorial approach, challenges, and representation of transnational narratives. Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

This study adopts the analytical framework of "food as a moral economy" to explore how the dietary practices of Buddhism and Islam in Thailand constitute two parallel yet complementary religious ethical systems, and further shape social relations and cultural identities. The research holds that in the social environment of Thailand, "eating" and "giving food" are not only the satisfaction of physiological needs, but also important ways for religious values to be practiced, expressed and negotiated in daily life. The Buddhist mechanism of almsgiving and accumulating virtue emphasizes the establishment of emotional networks and social reciprocity through diet. The halal dietary …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

This study investigates how storytelling elements within a traditional cultural intellectual property (IP) drive consumer engagement in the global context. Using Black Myth: Wukong—a modern adaptation of Journey to the West—as the central case, the research examines how plot, character, and verisimilitude influence the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral dimensions of player engagement.A hybrid thematic analysis of 431 comments from Bilibili and YouTube reveals that narrative components activate engagement through distinct mechanisms: plot induces a cognitive–affective–behavioral loop, characters trigger emotional–behavioral transformation, and verisimilitude creates a cognition–behavior bridge. Crucially, cultural background moderates these processes. Chinese players engage through cultural proximity, collective memory, …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

The Roles Of Inward Fdi On Environmental Quality In Asian Countries, Onpreeya Kunthong

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

This study investigates the impact of inward foreign direct investment (FDI) on environmental quality across 31 Asian countries from 1990 to 2020.
