This paper presents SCALE, a fully automated transactional clustering framework. The SCALE design highlights three unique features. First, we introduce the concept of Weighted Coverage Density as a categorical similarity measure for efficient clustering of transactional datasets. The concept of weighted coverage density is intuitive and it allows the weight of each item in a cluster to be changed dynamically according to the occurrences of items. Second, we develop the weighted coverage density measure based clustering algorithm, a fast, memory-efficient, and scalable clustering algorithm for analyzing transactional data. We compare two distinct approaches for querying data in the context of the life sciences. The first approach utilizes conventional databases to store the data and intuitive form-based interfaces to facilitate easy querying of the data. These interfaces could be seen as implementing a set of 'pre-canned' queries commonly used by the life science researchers that we study. The second approach is based on semantic Web technologies and is knowledge (model) driven. However, because of the vast number of sensors collecting data about our environment, finding relevant sensors on the Web is a non-trivial challenge. In this paper, we present an approach to discovering sensors through a standard service interface over Linked Data. This is accomplished with a semantic sensor network middleware that includes a sensor registry on Linked Data and a sensor discovery service that extends the OGC Sensor Web Enablement. As perceptual beings, we are also constantly inundated with sensory data, yet we are able to make sense of our environment with relative ease. This narrative addresses the three broad categories of project objectives for 2010:

(1) The development of an Unintentional Prescription Drug Poisoning Coalition to address the problem by reviewing relevant data and making recommendations to Public Health Dayton-Montgomery County and the Ohio Department of Health.

(2) The development of a Poison Death Review process.

(3) The facilitation and conduct of targeted Information, Training, and Educational Opportunities to help address and prevent the problem.

This work contributes to the study of retweet behavior on Twitter surrounding real-world events. We analyze over a million tweets pertaining to three events, present general tweet properties in such topical datasets and qualitatively analyze the properties of the retweet behavior surrounding the most tweeted/viral content pieces. Findings include a clear relationship between sparse/dense retweet patterns and the content and type of a tweet itself; suggesting the need to study content properties in link-based diffusion models.

Provenance, from the French word “provenir”, describes the lineage or history of a data entity. Provenance is critical information in the sensors domain to identify a sensor and analyze the observation data over time and geographical space. The Advantage Sharing Program, or ASP, is a multi-county collaboration comprising Greene, Miami and Montgomery Counties. The program’s purpose is to provide additional dollars to economic and workforce projects that have been developed by local governments. The projects submitted by local governments address the needs of businesses that are locating, expanding or sustaining operations. ASP provides to local officials a source of additional funding to meet business needs. Local governments apply for funds after their best offer does not secure a development agreement. In 2009, Huber Heights City Schools contracted with the Center for Urban & Public Affairs (CUPA) to conduct the economic impact analysis of new school construction on the local economy. For this study, CUPA used IMPLAN, a tool for economic impact assessment to estimate the direct, indirect, and induced impacts of the $159.1 million1 school facility construction project on the local (zip code 45424) and the regional economy (Montgomery, Greene, and Miami counties). It should be noted that these impacts are estimated for the project as a whole and not estimated for each year of the 32‐month construction period.

In 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) was adopted by the United Nations. Economic human rights are expressed in Articles 23, 25, and 26. The UDHR requires that poverty be seen not just as an unfortunate living condition but also as a violation of human rights. In this study, 20 women with children were educated about the UDHR and interviewed in order to understand their stories of poverty through the lens of rights violations. Implications for reframing poverty as a rights violations and how social workers can advocate for policies that promote the well-being of families are discussed.

The radiology department consists of a group of 59 radiologists, who service 5 hospitals in Columbus, Springfield, Newark, and Chillicothe. Beginning in 1999, the group transitioned to a system that allowed the doctors to view CT scans and MRI exams digitally.
