The basic problem under study was originally that of determining the quality of student that took Library Orientation as a freshman as UNI. The hypothesis that was tested was this: UNI as freshman were either good or poor students in high school in terms of their high school grade point averages (GPA's), and approximately equal percentages of good (greater than 3.00 GPA) and bad (under 2.25 GPA) students will be found in this majority.

It is the intent of this study to find the current status of centralized libraries in the state of Iowa as it affects the majority (fifty-four per cent) of Iowa's school children. This study is a survey of the library o£ the Colo Junior-Senior High School, Colo, Iowa, during the 1972-1973 school year. It is limited to a strictly local situation, and the information secured and analyzed will be used primarily as a guide in planning future library programs in this particular situation.
