The questions asked were as follows:

1. Do you, or will you charge fines for overdue library materials?

2. What were, or are the reasons that made you decide to charge or not charge fines?

B. Did, or will student opinion have any bearing on your decision?

Of the fifteen practicing librarians, ten indicated that they did not charge fines and five indicated that they did charge fines.

These theories are Role Reversal, Lack of Mothering, Successive Generation, and Psychological Dysfunctioning. The present study investigated the variable of Black Dialect as it affected performance of a black population on a standardized speech-sound discrimination test. Forty-four black preschool children ranging in age from four years, one month through five years, one month served as subjects. Test tapes used for presentation of the test were the Standard English test tape included in the speech-sound discrimination test pack and a Black Dialect test tape recorded by a lay talker. The purpose of this study was to view the phenomenon of attrition from a sociological perspective utilizing the concept of "social alienation" as a predisposing factor in college attrition. The names of 136 students who withdrew prior to, or at the end of, the first semester of their freshman year for the academic years 1969-70, 1970-71, and 1971-72 were secured from the Data Processing Office of the University of Northern Iowa.
