With the proliferation of literature on Open access (OA), extensive literature can be found focusing on issues relating to OA publishing from the viewpoint of libraries and publisher, very little have been done on issues influencing authors’ adoption and use of OA by academic librarians in Northern Nigeria. This study investigated the utilization of OA among academic librarians in Northwestern States of Nigeria. This study examines the prison inmates’ challenges in accessing library media resources in preparation for Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in Nigeria from 2009 to 2013. Three regional prisons in Nigeria that prepare and register inmates for these Examinations were randomly selected for the study. These are Abakaliki prisons in the South-East, Ikoyi prisons in South-West and Kuje prisons in North-Central Nigeria. Funding Resilient Infrastructure In New Jersey: Attitudes Following A Natural Disaster, Robert B. Noland, Marc D. Weiner, Michael R. Greenberg

Recent major natural disasters in New Jersey have demonstrated the need to increase the resilience of transportation infrastructure. This research examines public attitudes toward revenue sources that can be dedicated to protecting vulnerable areas, most notably the transportation linkages on which the state depends. A statewide survey was conducted to gather data approximately four months following Superstorm Sandy, the costliest natural disaster in the state’s history. The authors’ objective was to sample public attitudes while the impacts of the disaster were still fresh. The living librarians of Dagbon are knowledge producers who commit the history of Dagbon into memory and recount it from generation to generation. This study used various instruments such as in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, observations, storytelling, phased assertion, documents’ analysis, field notes, historical profiling, and acoustic appreciation to explore the living librarian of Dagbon in Northern Ghana. This study investigated mentoring strategies in use for professional development of librarians in federal Universities in North-Central Nigeria. Descriptive survey research design was adopted. Population of the study was 107 professional librarians. Four research questions guided the study. Instrument for data collection were: structured questionnaire and an interview schedule. Data obtained were analyzed using mean ratings. The present study is based on the citation pattern of the articles published for the period 2005–2014 of the Library Philosophy and Practice, E-Journal. 1180 articles are published in the journal during 2005-2014. Highest numbers (198) of articles were published in 2011. The E-Journal contained 20978 references for the study period of which 15518 are documentary sources citations and 5460 are non-documentary source citations. Every year almost 118 articles are published and each article has an average of 13.15 documentary sources and 4.618 non-documentary citations.

This paper examines the tumblarians as an information community and discusses community membership, information behaviours, and complementary models for a situated understanding of this unique personal-professional community. A review of the literature concerning LIS bloggers is presented as a complement to the tumblarians, who have no in depth treatment in the research as yet. This paper discussed librarians’ attitudes towards open source software. Questionnaires were the research instrument used. One thousand (1000) questionnaires were administered out of which nine hundred and twenty (920) were returned and used for the study which represents a return rate of ninety-two percent (92%). Responses were analysed using simple percentages and results were presented in tables and charts.
