Physically Challenged Students And Their Information Needs, Atanda S. Sambo

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

This study is aimed at exploring the information needs of the physically challenged students in Kwara State Library, Ilorin, Nigeria. A Survey research design was adopted. Three objectives were set for the study and the interview was used to elicit information from respondents. Findings showed that 76% were male while 24% were female. Findings also reveal that the information needs of physically challenges students covered medical (94%), academic (82%), security (78%), news/current awareness, training/conference, seminar respectively (76%), transport/travel (53%), sport (55%), politics (18%), and (4%) among others. The study revealed that (82%) used the library occasionally while (18%) regularly. The …

This study assessed the operation and impact of staff performance and service delivery of the In-service training programme for Junior Library Assistants of the Ghana Library Authority. “We Just Pretended As If Everything Was Good”: Communication About Alcohol In Families Of Nonalcoholic And Alcoholic Parents, Marie Haverfield

Family communication is a strong predictor of the attitudes and behaviors children and adolescents have toward alcohol. This study explored perspectives of family communication about the topic of alcohol in focus groups consisting of adult children of alcoholics and adult children of nonalcoholics. The study utilized Koerner and Fitzpatrick’s (2002) family communication patterns theory and Gottman’s (2001) emotion regulation theory to guide research and focus group questions. A group of trained coders conducted an analysis of transcripts from four focus groups—two were comprised of self-proclaimed adult children of alcoholics and two consisted solely of adult children of nonalcoholic parents. Organizational labor forces in countries that include China, the OECD and U.S. continue to be increasingly composed of workers who migrate across country regions or from other countries. Since their children will enter the next generation of labor forces, it is increasingly relevant to assess the educational experience of these children. Background studies of both children and adults indicate the importance of assessing subjective well-being (SW-B) to overall health and human capital. This study reports results of an initial assessment of SW-B in children of migrantfamily in an urban center of China across school type, grade and gender differences.

Purpose: the present study evaluated the relationship between library anxiety and attitude toward computer based on as integrated model of ATC and BELCAT of public libraries’ user.

Methodology: the study was conducted using the analytic survey. A sample of 370 participants was randomly selected out of 10757 users of public libraries in Dezful city, Khouzestan, Iran. This study examined the process of retrospective catalogue conversion (RCC) in selected federal university libraries in Nigeria. The specific purposes aimed identifying the resources for RCC, methods employed, competency possessed by the library staff for the process, problems associated with it and the appropriate strategies.
