Trends in temperature and rainfall extremes in the Bangkok Metropolitan area were analyzed on the basis of 3 high-quality series of daily data. A set of core climate extreme indices recommended by the WMOCCL/ CLIVAR Expert Team on Climate Change Detection, Monitoring and Indices (ETCCDMI) that measures many aspects of a changing climate including changes in intensity, frequency and duration of temperature and rainfall events was computed. Analysis of these indices provided clear evidence that different aspects of temperature and rainfall extremes in the Bangkok Metropolis exhibited significant changes during 1965- 2006. Trends in daily rainfall extreme along Thailand's coastal zones were examined, based on 28 high-quality series of daily rainfall data observed at the stations along the Andaman Sea Coast (ASC), the Gulf of Thailand's western coast (GoTw) and the Gulf of Thailand's eastern coast (GoTe). Combustion of incense, candles, and mosquito coils produces a variety of air pollutants, which may cause adverse health effects. This study was to characterize emissions of particulate matter (PM2.5) and carbon monoxide (CO) from the burning process of three selected types of emitters: incense, candles, and mosquito coils. The experiments were conducted in an aluminum foil-lined wall chamber with a dimension of 1x1x1 m3. Emission rates and emission factors of the test emitters were obtained from fitting time-dependent concentrations of the measured pollutants to a single-compartment mass balance model. This article analyzes poetry during the Tang dynasty by using the cultural dimension as an analytical lens. I have selected eightyseven Tang poems dealing with war that were compiled in the Complete Tang Poetry (全唐诗 Quán Táng Shī), commissioned by the Kangxi 康熙 emperor of the Qing 清 dynasty (1644-1911 AD). The research paper takes the approach of discourse studies, which postulates that language, literature, culture, and society are inseparably related. This article studies women's power and negotiation illustrated in lovelorn heroines' roles in Noh plays, particularly those composed by Zeami (1363?—1443?), the most famous Japanese playwright during the fourteenth century. This article examines Zeami's eight Noh plays, analyzing the causes of separation and the heroine's sadness in these stories, to illustrate the gender power and social status of Japanese women at the time.

This paper analyzes selected works of Indian children's literature, both short stories and novels, to tackle the problem of sexism. Sexism constitutes discrimination between the sexes, preventing girls and women from their full emotional and intellectual development in their struggle for a full humanity in their own right. This struggle finds representation even in contemporary children's literature. The main characters in the works selected for this presentation are nearly all female, though one interesting case involves the evolution of a male protagonist in gender awareness. This article examines some major novels by Khai Hung, a well known writer in Vietnam in the period 1930-1945, to glean social developments in Vietnam during this period. While there was a significant social transformation in the public domain, as shown by scholarly works by David Marr and Nguyen Van Ky, Khai Hung's novels show that in the families of the mandarinate (the Confucian educated literati, or members of the traditional ruling elite and their families), traditional values managed to survive and even to remain dominant in some cases. Air-water inter-phase mass transport of organic contaminants is often an important factor in their environmental fate and behaviour. The equilibrium situation is given by the Henry's Law Constant of the compound, but is rarely attained under environmental conditions. Approach to equilibrium is commonly described by the two-film theory involving molecular (Fickian) diffusion through thin stagnant films adjacent to the air-water interface. This theory is formulated in terms of mass transfer coefficients and fugacity transport parameters. Penetration and Surface Renewal Theories of mass transfer are also discussed. Durian Peel As Biosorbent For Removal Of Cadmium Ions From Aqueous Solution, Wanna Saikaew, Pairat Kaewsarn

The ability of durian peel to remove Cd(II) ions from aqueous solution by biosorption was investigated. The sorption capacities at different solution pH, agitation speed, temperatures, initial cadmium ions concentrations and contact time were evaluated on a batch scale basis. At pH 5 and agitation speed 150 rpm, the cadmium ions removal reached at a maximum value. Increases in cadmium capacity with increasing temperature indicated endothermic nature of the biosorption process. The equilibrium was better described by the Langmuir isotherm model, with a maximum biosorption capacity of 18.55 mg g-1. The biosorption was relatively quick about 15 min to reach …

This study was aimed to evaluate the feasibility of an iron-phosphate coating on pyrite surfaces for inhibiting an oxidation that is expected to prevent acid mine drainage (AMD). Prior to the experiments, pyrite samples (av. 425-850 µm in size) were mixed with sand (av. 1-2 mm in size) with a ratio of 1:4. Coating process was conducted in batch experiments that were treating with various concentrations of coating solutions, i.e., hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), sodium acetate (NaAc) and potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KH2PO4) at different contact times. การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการจัดการหนังสือหายากในห้องสมุดมหาวิทยาลัยในก้านการกำหนดนโยบาย การจัดหา การจัดเก็บ การทำเครื่องมือช่วยค้น การสงวนรักษา และการบริการ รวมทั้งปัญหาในการจัดการหนังสือหายาก การดำเนินการวิจัยใช้แบบสัมภาษณ์แบบมีโครงสร้างเป็นเครื่องมือในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ห้องสมุดมหาวิทยาลัยส่วนใหญ่มีการกำหนดนโยบายการจัดการหนังสือหายาก มีหน่วยงานที่รับผิดชอบหลายหน่วยงาน มีวิธีการจัดหาโดยการขอ/ได้รับบริจาค มีการจัดหาหนังสือหายากโดยคัดเลือกจากหนังสือที่มีการพิมพ์จำนวนจำกัดมากที่สุด รองลงมามีการจัดหาหนังสือหายากโดยคัดเลือกจากหนังสือที่เป็นหลักฐานด้านประวัติการพิมพ์ และหนังสือที่พิมพ์แจกเป็นของชำร่วยในงานมงคลและหนังสืออนุสรณ์งานศพ มีระบบจัดเก็บแบบชั้นปิด มีการทำเครื่องหมาย แสดงกรรมสิทธิ์ จัดทำเครื่องมือช่วยค้นในรูปรายการออนไลน์ มีการสงวนรักษาโดยการแปลงให้เป็นทรัพยากรดิจิทัล มีหน่าย งานภายในห้องสมุดดูแลรักษาต้นฉบับด้วยการซ่อมแซม/เข้าเล่ม และจัดบริการแนะนำเมื่อมีผู้ใช้บริการร้องขอทั้งรายบุคคล และรายกลุ่ม ปัญหาในการจัดการหนังสือหายาก พบว่า ห้องสมุดมหาวิทยาลัยส่วนใหญ่ประสบปัญหาขาดบุคลากรที่มีความรู้ความ ชำนาญในการจัดการหนังสือหายากโดยเฉพาะ ขาดบุคลากรที่มีความรู้ความสามารถในการสงวนรักษาหนังสือหายากโดย เฉพาะ หนังสือหายากเป็นหนังสือที่หาได้ยากและมีจำกัดในท้องตลาด ทำให้ไม่สามารถจัดหาได้ตามความต้องการของห้อง สมุดและผู้ใช้ และผู้ใช้บริการมีน้อย The purposes of this research were 1) to study the rare book management in university libraries, in terms of policy, acquisition, storage, search tools, preservation, and service; and 2) to explore problems in rare book management. การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์เอกสารจดหมายเหตุของหอประวัติจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัยในด้านแหล่งที่มา ประเภท ลักษณะ เนื้อหา ภาษา และอายุ ของเอกสารจดหมายเหตุที่เก็บรักษาอยู่ในหอประวัติจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 6,474 แฟ้ม โดยใช้แบบบันทึกข้อมูลเป็นเครื่องมือในการวิจัย ผลการวิจัยพบว่า เอกสารจดหมายเหตุส่วนใหญ่มีแหล่งที่มาจากคณะ เป็นเอกสารสำเนา เป็นภาษาไทย และมีอายุ อยู่ในช่วง พ.ศ. 2505-2524 เอกสารจดหมายเหตุจำนวนมากทที่สุดเป็นประเภทบันทึก และมีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับรายการประชุม จากสมมติฐานที่กำหนดไว้ คือ เอกสารจดหมายเหตุส่วนใหญ่เป็นเอกสารจากคณะ เป็นภาษาไทย และมีอายุอยู่ใน ช่วง พ.ศ. 2505-2524 สามารถสรุปได้ว่าผลการวิจัยที่สอดคล้องกับสมมติฐาน คือ เอกสารจดหมายเหตุส่วนใหญ่เป็นเอก สารจากคณะ เป็นภาษาไทย และมีอายุอยู่ในช่วง พ.ศ. 2505-2524 ส่วนผลการวิจัยที่ไม่สอดคล้องกับสมมติฐานคือ เอกสารจดหมายเหตุส่วนใหญ่เป็นเอกสารสำเนา และจำนวนมากที่สุดเป็นประเภทบันทึก มีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับรายงานการประชุม The purpose of this research is to analyze the archival records in Chulalongkorn University Memorial Hall, in terms of, their provenances, categories, physical types, subject contents, languages and ages. การจัดบริการล่วงเวลาในห้องสมุดมหาวิทยาลัย, สุบิน ไชยยะ

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการจัดบริการล่วงเวลาในห้องสมุดมหาวิทยาลัยในด้านวัตถุประสงค์การจัดการ และ การให้บริการ รวมถึงปัญหาในการจัดบริการล่วงเวลาในห้องสมุดมหาวิทยาลัย การวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจ โดยใช้แบบสอบถามเป็นเครื่องมือในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากหัวหน้าห้องสมุดหรือบรรณารักษ์ผู้รับผิดชอบการจัดบริการล่วงเวลาในห้องสมุดมหาวิทยาลัย รวมทั้งสิ้น 113 แห่ง ได้รับแบบสอบถามกลับมาจำนวน 95 ชุด (ร้อยละ 84.07) ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ห้องสมุเมหาวิทยาลัยจำนวนมาดที่สุดจัดบริการล่วงเวลาเพื่อส่งเสริมการใช้ทรัพยากรสารนิเทศสำหรับ การค้นคว้าและการวิจัยในห้องสมุด โดยห้องสมุดมหาวิทยาลัยส่วนใหญ่ให้บริการทุกบริเวณของห้องสมุด และให้บริการยืม-คืน ทรัพยากรสารนิเทศ สำหรับปัญหาการจัดบริการล่วงเวลา พบว่าห้องสมุดมหาวิทยาลัยประสบปัญหาในด้านการจัดการให้ บริการในระดับปานกลางและระดับน้อยเหมือนกัน โดยปัญหาด้านการจัดการที่มีค่าเฉลี่ยสูงสุด คือ ผู้ใช้บริการมีจำนวนน้อย ไม่คุ้มกับค่าใช้จ่ายในการดำเนินการ และปัญหาด้านการให้บริการที่มีค่าเฉลี่ยสูงสุด คือ ห้องสมุดไม่สามารถจัดบริการได้ทุกบริเวณพื้นที่ของห้องสมุด The objectives of this research were 1) to study overtime service management in university libraries, in terms of, objectives, management, and service; and 2) to investigate problems in managing overtime service in university libraries. Water quality was monitored using phytoplankton, protozoa and benthos as bioindicators in Chadeebhucha Canal, Nakhon Pathom Province. Data was collected during 12 sampling periods at 9 stations, 4 times per month in April, August and December, 2007. Phytoplankton and protozoa were collected at the surface level and a 0.4 m subsurface level. Benthos was collected from bottom sediment in the canal. Phytoplankton collected represented 3 divisions, i.e. Cyanophyta, Chlorophyta and Chromophyta as 4 dominant genera, Oscillatoria, Euglena, Scenedesmus and Phacus, indicating low water quality. Total daily dietary arsenic intake by adults in Ronphibun district, within Thailand has been re-evaluated via duplicate portion sampling and atomic absorption spectrophotometer determination of the arsenic. Hundred duplicate diet samples were collected from participants. The ranges of arsenic concentration in diets were between 0.49 and 1.33 µg g-1, lower than the Thailand Standard value of 2 µg g-1. The daily intake of total arsenic in the Ronphibun villagers ranged between 130.72 and 550.26 µg d-1 with a mean of 274.97 µg d-1 (SD = 74.78 µg d-1). Cadmium contamination in cultivated soils and rice grain grown in Mae Sot District, Tak Province, Thailand was brought to public attention in 2003. Cadmium is considered highly toxic to plants, animals and microbes. However, some bacteria have developed the ability to detoxify cadmium and other heavy metals there by conferring resistance on these microbes. The aims of this research were to study the quantities and dispersion of viable soil bacteria and cadmium-resistant found in cadmium contaminated soils at Mae Sot District. Water management for integrated farming, reusing of water from shrimp (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) farm for off-season rice production was studied at Ban Na Vee, Khoawong District, Kalasin Province. The experiment was conducted in 2008 during dry season, from February to June. The integrated rice cultivation was using left-over water from shrimp rearing pond compare with that using water directly from the reservoir - for field preparation and rice growing throughout 4 months period.
