R/3 Implementation Analysis In Various Industries, Paul Alan Rascoe

Theses Digitization Project

The purpose of this project was to analyze six companies in various industries that are currently using systems, applications, and products in data processing (SAP)'s R/3. It outlines the history of SAP and gives background on the companies including what they used before R/3, why they chose R/3, and some of the challenges involved with the changing over to R/3. The companies that were analyzed are Allegran Pharmaceuticals, Pacific Communications, Varian Incorporated, Northop-Grumman, Sempra Energy, and Goodrich. A comparison of the companies is done along with analysis on strategic motivators behind the change to R/3.

Optimized And Integrated Alignment System For Functional Proton Radiosurgery, Fadi Easa Shihadeh

In this thesis work, a system for proton beam alignment was studied and optimized in many of its functional areas. The resulting system was named Positioning Alignment Control System (PACS). The PACS system is an integrated and efficient system as a result of the work done on it in the course of this thesis work.

Smaller autonomous underwater vehicles that use differential thrust for surge and yaw motion control has the advantage of low cost and, at the same time, increased maneuverability in yaw direction. However, since such vehicles are underactuated vehicles, design of an autonomous control system that enables the vehicle to autonomously track a predefined trajectory is challenging. In this paper, we presented such an autonomous control system and implemented it on a small underactuated ROV with the use of unscented Kalman filter for vehicle localization, a underwater acoustic positioning system as the position sensor and a compass as the direction sensor. In the METEOR-S project, we have studied the comprehensive role of semantics in all stages of the life cycle of service and process-- including annotation, publication, discovery, interoperability/data mediation, and composition. Improvement To The Data Logging Capability Of A Cough Monitoring System, Matthew Barlow

Data logging capability of a previously developed self contained cough recorder using an accelerometer as the sensing element is improved by using a secure digital memory card for later retrieval on a computer. Firmware is developed to enhance the functionality of the cough recorder. Existing libraries are modified for increased write rates. Increased writing speed allows 8-bit sampling at rates exceeding 8kHz, allowing for detailed time and frequency domain analysis. Additional features have also been developed to enable easy management of recordings, such as a file system compatibility with Microsoft Windows., and unique file names for each recording.

By scanning the documents into an electronic repository, medical staff will be able to more easily store and locate these records. There is a burgeoning movement to create user interfaces that combine searching and browsing in order to facilitate knowledge discovery. Categorized overviews are promising techniques to improve the browsing capabilities and subject access of search results. Research is needed to examine the design space in order to promote the usability and understanding of such interfaces.
