Synergism Of Complex Additives Of Dtab+Ktl For Zinc Corrosion Inhibition In Koh Solutions, Sheng-Zhou Lin, Zeng-Xin Cai, Gui-Sheng Wang, He-Bing Zhou, Wei-Shan Li
Journal of Electrochemistry
The electrochemical behaviors of Zn in 3mol/L KOH solution containing several kinds of inhibitors were investigated by weight-loss,electrochemical methods and SEM. The results showed that both the single ad-ditive and the mixed additives can suppress the corrosion of zinc in 3 mol/LKOH solution. And the inhibition ef-feciency of the mixed additives is higher than that of any single additive because of the synergistic effect between KTL and DTAB. The adsorption of DTAB on the surface of zinc has been enhanced in the presence of KTL.

A Direct Borohydride Fuel Cell With Fecopc2-Catalysed Cathode, Jin-Fu Ma, Yan Liu, Jun-Hua Lai, Yong-Ning Liu
Journal of Electrochemistry
In this paper,a membraneless direct borohydride fuel cell was investigated. Cyclic voltammograms of FeCoPc2-modified glassy carbon electrode in the alkaline solution show that FeCoPc2 was active for oxygen reduction reaction. In addition, the steady-state polarization curve tests indicate that FeCoPc2 had better activity than FePc,CoPc or FePc+CoPc, which is due to its conjugated effect and synergistic effect of Fe and Co. Finally, a maximum power density of 110 mW/cm2 was attained, and the 25-day life test shows that the direct borohydride fuel cell had a good stability.

Journal of Electrochemistry
Poly(cinnamic acid)-modified electrode (PCA /GC) was prepared by potentiostatic technique and was used for determination of uric acid (UA),ascorbic acid (AA),and their mixture by cyclic voltammetry. This modified electrode exhibited a potent and persistent electron-mediating behavior followed by well-separated oxidation peaks toward UA and AA at a scan rate of 50 mV·s-1 with a potential difference of 280 mV,which is large enough to determine UA and AA individually and simultaneously. The catalytic peak current obtained was linearly dependent on the UA and AA concentrations in the range of 2.0×10-6~1.0×10-4 mol·L-1,2.0×10-5~6.0×10-4 mol·L …

Redox State Of Polyaniline Nanodot And Its Coulomb Staircase Effect, Jian-Zhang Zhou, Shao-Huang Weng, Zhong-Hua Lin
Journal of Electrochemistry
Polyaniline nanodot array had been fabricated in AAO template with potentiostatic method and the I~V characteristics of nanodots with different redox states were measured by conducting atomic force microscope (C-AFM) in atmosphere at room temperature. We found that only nanodots in partial oxidation state exhibit coulomb staircase in the I~V curves, while those in the full oxidation state and reduced state do not. The above phenomena were discussed preliminarily.

Journal of Electrochemistry
Electrochemical reduction of nitrobenzene at glassy carbon electrode in different ionic liquids, such as N-methylimidazolium-p-toluene sulfonic acid ([Mim][PhSO3]) and ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([Bmim][PF6]) have been investigated by cyclic voltammetry. Experimental results showed that only a cathodic current peak was observed in [Mim][PhSO3],which is a diffusional controlled irreversible reaction. And two pairs of current peaks were obtained in [Bmim][PF6] in the same potential range, indicating showed that the reduction products of nitrobenzene were different in different ionic liquids.

The measured capacitance data were analyzed based on the Mott-Schottky equation and Einstein equation. Based on the different response times to the changes of the applied electric field between the ionic and the electronic charge transfers, the diffusion coefficient of the point defects in the anodic oxide film on titanium was estimated. It was shown that the passive potential region for titanium in 1.0 mol·L-1 …

Ellipsomtric measurements for Cu2O coatings with various electroplating time were carried out. Using a 4-layer model of "Air-Cu2O layer-interphase-Ni" ,the interphase was modeled with the graded effective medium approximation (EMA),the ellipsomtric data were deconvoluted and the Cu2O …

Journal of Electrochemistry
Liquid dispersion, described by the parameters of gas/liquid/solid three-phase boundary(TPB) zone of dispersed liquid on a metal surface,is an important property of liquid state influencing corrosion behavior of metals in gas/liquid/solid multiphase corrosion systems. In our paper, the characterisation of cathodic oxygen reduction process in TPB zone was discussed, and a model describing the cathodic process of TPB zone was developed. On this basis, the relationship between the cathodic limiting current and the TPB parameters was studied, and the simulation results were in good agreement with the experimental data. The role of liquid dispersion in atmospheric and sandy soil corrosion systems was also simulated.

Corrosion Performance Of Epoxy Coatings By Chemical Modification With Silanes, Liang Liu, Wei-Gang Ji, Ji-Ming Hu, Jian-Qing Zhang, Chu-Nan Cao
Journal of Electrochemistry
The improvement of corrosion performance of epoxy coatings by modification with "active" and "non-active" silanes is presented."Active" silanes are defined as ones having functional groups that can react with the epoxy groups in the epoxy resin, usually amino-silanes."Non-active" silanes are defined as ones not reacting with the epoxy groups, but can react with the hydroxyl groups in the epoxy backbone by the condensation reactions under the catalysis of organic tin compounds. The FTIR results showed that both the "active" and "non-active" silanes had been successfully grafted onto the epoxy resin.Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) and accelerated corrosion test(Machu test) showed that the corrosion performance of …

Electrochemical Behavior Of Mg-Li Electrodes In Nacl Solution, Lin Wu, Yan-Zhuo Lv, Xue Cao, Gui-Ling Wang, Dian-Xue Cao
Journal of Electrochemistry
The Mg-Li electrodes containing 8.5% and 14% Li were prepared using an induction melting method. Their electrochemical behavior in NaCl solution was investigated by means of potentiodynamic polarization, potentiostatic oxidation, electrochemical impedance technique and mass-loss measurements. The morphology of the electrodes after discharge was examined using scanning electron microscopy. The Mg-14Li electrode showed more negative open circuit potential and higher discharge current density than Mg-8.5Li electrode. The oxidation products of Mg-14Li loosely attached on the electrode surface and peeled off easily. The Mg-8.5Li exhibited higher utilization efficiency. Both electrodes gave higher utilization efficiencies when discharged at lower anodic potential.
