Direct Titrimetric Determination And Of Sulphate, Chee Kin Tan
Direct Titrimetric Determination And Of Sulphate, Chee Kin Tan
Student Works (2000-2009)
Interference by foreign ions in direct titrimetric determination of sulphate with barium perchlorate using dimethylsulphonazo III (DMSA Ill) as indicator were studied in this research project. The use of certain water miscible solvents as titration medium has enhanced the determination of end-point. Among the methanol, ethanol, n-propanol and acetone used in the investigation, it was found that medium containing 40 to 50% n-propanol or acetone delivered distinct end-points. The effects of nine cations and eight anions were studied in the above sulphate titration. It was found that the interference caused by Li",Na",K",Mg2"·Mn2", Cd2", NH4", CI and Br are not significant. …
Zinc Speculation And Ligand Fluxes In Chesapeake Bay And Elizabeth River Pore Waters, Duncan Glover Byers
Zinc Speculation And Ligand Fluxes In Chesapeake Bay And Elizabeth River Pore Waters, Duncan Glover Byers
Chemistry & Biochemistry Theses & Dissertations
Presented here are the first data on the vertical concentrations, complexation, speciation, and fluxes of total dissolved zinc and zinc complexing ligands, and zinc speciation in sediment pore waters in the Chesapeake Bay and Elizabeth River, Virginia.
Sediment pore waters were collected in mid and southern Chesapeake Bay in November 1997 and in the Elizabeth River (Pinner's Point) in March, April, and July 1998. Flux experiments were conducted in Elizabeth River sediment cores in April and July 1998. [TDZn] and zinc complexation were determined using differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry at a hanging mercury drop electrode (DPASV-HMDE).
[TDZn] in the …
Bulletin 4307 - Grass Control In Pastures Using Herbicides, Alexandra Wallace
Bulletin 4307 - Grass Control In Pastures Using Herbicides, Alexandra Wallace
Bulletins 4000 -
This Bulletin discusses three methods for herbicide control of grasses in pastures:
- pasture manipulation, in the early stages of pasture growth;
- spray-topping late in the growing season; and
- hay freezing, late in the growing season.

Understanding Fertilisers For Table Grapes, B. H. Goldspink, I. Cameron, J. Campbell-Clause, N. Lantzke, C. Gordon
Viticulture research reports
A course run by the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, August 1995.
The purpose of this publication is to clarify the role fertilisers play in commercial table grape production and to detail methods of selecting fertilisers. This selection process however is not easy as there are over 600 registered fertilisers in Western Australia.
In deciding which is the best fertiliser for a particular property many factors have to be considered. These include:
* Age of vine
* Rootstock
* Variety of table grape
* Soil type
* Soil chemistry
* Irrigation methods
* Previous fertiliser history Previous yield, vigour and …

Lake Mead And Lake Powell Salinity Reports, Cathy Lee, Steve Gazafy
Publications (WR)
The enclosed reports were compiled for the Colorado River Water Quality Office based on salinity data for Lake Mead and Lake Powell. According to the regional director of the office, the reports are not considered "polished" documents for public distribution. However, he considers them to be "interesting, rough appraisals of general trends that may be very important In our understanding the hydro-salinity system in the Colorado River."
Reaction Of Aqueous Catechol Solutions With Minerals, Boonthong Poocharoen
Reaction Of Aqueous Catechol Solutions With Minerals, Boonthong Poocharoen
Dissertations and Theses
The effectiveness of catechol, an aromatic vic-diol, in dissolving silicate minerals was studied. A synthetic amorphous magnesium trisilicate, Mg₂Si₃O₈∙5H₂O, as well as the minerals olivine, sepiolite, diopside, augite, and enstatite were used to react with catechol in slightly acidic, basic, and neutral solutions. It was found, depending on the solvent used, that 33-52, 8-17, 14-30, 5-11, 3-6, and 0.5-1 % of the minerals dissolved, respectively.
The reaction with Mg₂Si₃0₈·5H₂0 resulted in the formation of crystals of magnesium tris (catecholato) siliconate nonahydrate Mg[Si(Cat)₃]∙9H₂0. Dehydration of the crystals at room temperature resulted in the loss of 6 moles of water to form …
Water Chemistry Survey Of Boulder Basin, Lake Mead, P. R. Tramutt, Bureau Of Reclamation
Water Chemistry Survey Of Boulder Basin, Lake Mead, P. R. Tramutt, Bureau Of Reclamation
Publications (WR)
The survey results indicate that the impoundment of water behind Hoover Dam has not adversely affected the dissolved oxygen (DO) content and that water quality and DO content were uniform regardless of depth. The study made in April-May 1964 will provide water quality data of Lake Mead prior to releases from Lake Powell as a basis for evaluating Lake Powell's effect on water quality and limnology of Lake Mead. The performance of a DO analyzer was tested and found unsatisfactory at depths below 150 ft. Parameters tested by standard chemical analyses of water samples in the Denver Laboratory and by …
