"Definition Of The Study. The study consists of an investigation of the variation in the temperature of formation of sphalerite on the 500 and 1500 ft levels of the Balmat zinc deposit at Balmat, New York. A subsidiary investigation was performed on the use of x-ray fluorescence as a means of chemical quantitative analysis. Twelve samples of sphalerite from the 500 ft level and 13 samples from the 1500 ft level were analyzed for atomic percent iron content by measuring Zn/Fe x-ray fluorescent ratios. The x-ray fluorescent ratios were standardized by ''wet" quantitative analysis. The results of the analyses are …

An Attempted Determination Of The Approximate Chemical Composition Of The Livingston Volcanics By The Fused Bead Technique, Robert D. Geach
Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970
Many fine-grained igneous rocks, basaltic and felsitic in character, are difficult to classify. In numerous cases, it is impossible to classify these types of rocks by quick methods of identification. It was hoped at the beginning of this study that refractive indices of glasses formed by quick artificial fusion of samples from selected suites of igneous rocks would show a close correlation in chemical composition.
Dispersing Agents In The Pipette Method Of Soil Analysis, Eugene W. Price
Dispersing Agents In The Pipette Method Of Soil Analysis, Eugene W. Price
Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970
For many years the study of sediments has been a major problem in the field of geology. Especially is this true of the branch of sedimentology known as grain-size distribution. Throughout the years many classical experiments have been performed and procedures evolved from them, all with the purpose of a better and easier determination of the grain-size distribution of fine sediments, particularly the clays.

A Stratigraphic Study Of Fusulinid Foraminifera In The Cherokee Group (Pennsylvanian) Of Western Missouri And Kansas, Ralph Orlansky
Masters Theses
"Limestones or shaly limestones, from four stratigraphic levels in the Cherokee group (Desmoinesian series) of Missouri and Kansas, contain eight species and two varieties of fusulinid foraminifera, of which four species and two varieties are new, and one ophthalmidiid foraminiferal species (Hemigordius cf. regularis Plummer). The next to highest limestone (cap rock of the Fleming coal) is correlated with the Seahorne limestone of western Illinois, the Stonefort limestone of southern Illinois, and the Munterville limestone of Iowa. Hemigordius regularis, a limestone facies foraminifer apparently marks a correlatable interval in the Ardmore limestone. Descriptions of the fusulinids and the …
