Laminectomy is usually used in spinal cord dysfunction like intervertebral disc herniation. High-speed pneumatic surgical drill is the most common surgical instrument for canine laminectomy operation. However, since the finical problem, the professional instrument has a low installation rate in animal hospitals in developing country. The study aimed to investigate the effect of tannic acid (TA) on total antioxidant power (FRAP), malondialdehyde (MDA), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), nitric oxide (NO), and the viability of broiler blood cells (BBC) exposed to high ambient temperatures. The BBC from a broiler chicken was exposed to temperatures ranging from 41.5°C to 46°C and incubated with TA at concentrations of 0 (the positive control group, TPCG), 5, 10, 15, and 20 μg/mL. There is no golden standard method of suturing for distal common calcaneal tendon rupture in dogs. Thus this study aimed to evaluate and compare the mechanical characteristics of three distinct transosseous suture (TOS) repair techniques, which were specifically developed to treat ruptured distal common calcaneal tendons and to identify golden standard suturing method. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of dexmedetomidine (DEX) alone on pain mitigation following cautery disbudding in calves. A total of 21 calves were randomly divided into three groups: sham-disbudded control with placebo (S, n = 8); hot-iron disbudded after placebo (D, n = 6); hot-iron disbudded after 0.01 mg/kg of DEX (DeD, n = 7). The pain-related responses measured included serum cortisol levels, struggling scores, pain-related behaviors and other physiological values. The aim of this study was to report the clinical and radiographic outcome from using an interlocking nail (ILN) technique for the stabilization of long bone fractures in 15 calves. Forty-eight calves with fractures were presented to the large animal hospital. Fifteen calves of different breeds, age, sex and weight with front or hind limb fractures were considered suitable for ILN application. These included proximal or distal diaphyseal transverse and oblique fractures of the humerus, radius, femur and tibia. The veterinary curriculum includes an anesthesia and surgery course that utilizes live animal laboratories and euthanasia, potentially causing stress in students. We used a validated psychology questionnaire to assess their stress levels, confirming that live animal laboratories induce significant stress. Antimicrobial agents are a cause of the increase in antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) bacteria. We investigated the prevalence and characteristics of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing bacteria in captive wild animals before and after exposure to antimicrobial agents. Sixty-six fecal samples were collected from captive animals (spotted deer, Rusa deer, geese, chickens, rabbits, and guinea pigs) at the Mahasarakham University Mini Zoo in Thailand on three sampling occasions: October 2021, January 2022, and April 2022. Freeze-drying (FD) is a sperm preservation method that eliminates the need for liquid nitrogen. However, the FD process can expose sperm to free radicals and temperature variations. This study aimed to determine the impact of rosmarinic acid (RA) as an antioxidant, initial sperm motility, and storage temperature on the DNA integrity of freeze-dried dog sperm. The present study evaluates the clinical effects of early post-partum prostaglandin administration on milk output, vaginal discharge and mastitis in sow. Two groups of sows were used: sows (n = 25) treated with prostaglandin F-2alpha (PGF-2α) intramuscularly 36 h after farrowing and a control group (n = 48) that did not receive any treatment. Seventy-two hours after farrowing, all animals were scored for rectal temperature, respiratory rate, feed ingestion, milk output, vaginal discharge and mastitis. Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) causes impaired kidney function in humans. However, this occurrence has not been well investigated in PAH dogs. Serum symmetrical dimethylarginine (SDMA) is one of the early biomarkers of kidney impairment. The present study aims to evaluate SDMA levels of first diagnosed PAH (n=14) compared with healthy dogs (n=12) and to analyze the correlation between SDMA levels and significant echocardiographic parameters of PAH dogs. The thymus generally presents as a sail-shaped soft-tissue opacity on thoracic radiographs in young, pre-pubescent dogs. After puberty, lymphatic tissue is replaced by adipose tissue and can usually no longer be identified on radiographs; however, thymic remnants have often been observed in adult dogs. This study aims to develop a prototype rumen pH and rumen temperature measuring device for continuous measurement. The benefit is for the monitoring and early diagnosis of metabolic diseases in cattle, especially rumen acidosis and subacute ruminal acidosis. The developed prototype device was approximately 50 millimeters in diameter, 145 millimeters in length and weighed 400 grams. Diazinon (DZN) is a promising broad-spectrum organophosphorus insecticide. There is no evidence to support the hypothesis that DZN alters cytokine gene expression and that these modifications have an immediate impact on the histopathology, blood chemistry and oxidative stress in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Therefore, 225 fish were divided into one control group and four treatment groups (45 fish/group; 3 replicates/group; 15 fish/ replicate). The aim of this study is to reveal the productivity rate of selective media for Brucella strains. Brucella selective media namely Farrell’s medium, CITA, Modified Thayer-Martin, Jones-Morgan medium and one additional medium including erythritol and antibiotics were compared within the scope of productivity rate and colony growth in time. The comparison was carried out using 14 strains including Brucella abortus biovars, S19 vaccine strain, Brucella suis biovars and Brucella ovis. Equine infectious anemia virus (EIAV), West Nile virus (WNV) and Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) are mosquito-borne viruses that are of great concern for the equine industry worldwide. These viruses produce similar clinical signs and veterinarians need to be able to differentiate between them quickly. A 50-year-old female Asian elephant (Elephas maximus) was referred to the Kasetsart University Veterinary Teaching Hospital with histories of anuria and abdominal pain for five days. Trans-rectal ultrasonography demonstrated the presence of hyperechogenic uroliths located between the neck and trigone of the urinary bladder. Vestibuloscopy by endoscope revealed an abnormal brownish mass obstructing the internal bladder orifice. Episiotomy was performed after standing sedation with dexmedetomidine, epidural anesthesia and perineal infiltration with lidocaine. Environmental enrichment methods are meant to encourage animals to display their complete ethogram while under human care in zoos and aquariums. In this study, we sought to characterize the effectiveness of environmental enrichment (involving the inclusion of toys in the living environment) on captive beluga whales in the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium. Our results indicate that belugas with toys spend less time floating and swimming repetitively than do belugas without toys. Five dogs were diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension (PH) secondary to chronic degenerative mitral valve disease or ventricular septal defect. They were initially administered low-dose imatinib mesylate (3 mg/kg, q24h) without changes to the background therapy to treat PH. The low-dose imatinib improved the right ventricular (RV) function parameters including estimated systolic and mean pulmonary arterial pressures (sPA and mPAP) and clinical symptoms. On day 53 to day 168 after imatinib administration, as PH and clinical signs worsened, low-dose sildenafil (0.5 mg/kg, q12h) was administered in combination with imatinib. A one-year-old Golden Retriever male dog manifested multi-systemic inflammation with a marked increment of plasma D-dimer. Enterococcus spp. was identified from hemoculture and it showed multidrug resistance (MDR), including amikacin, cephazolin, ceftriaxone, clindamycin, imipenem, penicillin G and sulfa-trimethoprim. Pure Enterococcus colonies were identified for species-specific DNA by PCR amplification and sequencing. It was 100% identical with the Enterococcus faecium strains in the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) database. In vitro spermatogenesis offers a therapeutic modality for the treatment of male infertility associated with pre-or post-meiotic barriers to the spermatogenesis process. The present study reports the production of tail-bearing sperm-like cells from in vitro spermatogenesis of farming goat testis in an air-liquid inter-phase culture. The testicular fragments (1-2 mm3) were placed on agarose scaffolds at air-liquid interphase and cultured in vitro for 60 days. Proliferating germ cell colonies were visible after 45-55 days of culture. Differentiation of cells to spermatogonia and spermatocytes was observed from the 40th day onwards.
