Sacubitril/Valsartan (S/V), an angiotensin receptor blocker-neprilysin inhibitor (ARNi), has demonstrated beneficial outcomes in heart failure (HF) patients. However, the effects of the drug in mitral regurgitation (MR) condition are not thoroughly elucidated. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of S/V compared with valsartan (Val) on cardiac function, mitochondrial quality and autophagy in a rat model with chronic MR. Tick-borne parasites (TBPs) in genera Anaplasma, Babesia, and Theileria pose a serious economic threat to small ruminant production. The present study was carried out to examine TBPs from goats and ticks in Thailand using PCR and DNA sequencing. A total of 93 ticks were collected from three provinces and identified as Rhipicephalus microplus. The phylogeny of R. microplus indicated that the tick belongs to the same phylogenic cluster as the previous studies in Thailand. With the current global health burden of osteoporosis and periodontitis, an effective treatment is looked for to treat the bone resorption effect. Osteogenic growth peptide (OGP) is a short peptide that is known able to increase osteogenesis. The objective of this study is to investigate thoroughly the osteogenic effect of OGP on human periodontal ligament stem cells (hPDLSCs). This study found that low-dose OGP can increase the proliferation without cytotoxic effect. Enhanced osteogenic differentiation potential was also found at low concentration of OGP. Rabies is a neuro-fatal disease, causing by rabies virus (RABV) infection. Two serological tests, recommended by the World Health Organization and the World Organization for Animal Health, namely the rapid fluorescent focus inhibition test (RFFIT) and the fluorescent antibody virus neutralization test (FAVN) are considered gold standard. Duck Tembusu virus (DTMUV) is an emerging flavivirus that causes severe nervous and systemic diseases in avian hosts. The virus has been classified into three clusters, and the predominant cluster in Thailand is cluster 2.1. The pathogenesis of the virus has been extensively studied in avian hosts but not in mammalian hosts. Therefore, the first objective of this dissertation was to investigate the viral pathogenesis in mammalian hosts. This study describes the etiological agent of Vibriosis along with its distribution and antimicrobial resistance profiles among farmed Asian sea bass (Lates calcarifer) in Thailand. The study isolated 283 Vibrionaceae from 15 Asian sea bass farms located around the provinces of the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand coasts to uncover the distribution and antimicrobial resistance profiles. The growing cases of colistin resistance due to plasmid mediated mcr genes family in Enterobacteriaceae is catastrophic to public health. In this study, our team performed the nation-wide surveillance of mcr-positive Escherichia coli (MCRPE) in healthy pigs across Thailand. Then we monitored longitudinally over the representative pig farm after colistin was withdrawn and genomic characterization was carried out. Among the 696 samples collected from 49 provinces of Thailand, the low carriage rate of mcr-1 or combination of mcr-1 and mcr-3 (4.45% and 0.43%) were detected. Canine mesenchymal stem cells (cMSCs) have potential applications for regenerative therapy, including the generation of insulin-producing cells (IPCs) for studying and treating diabetes. In this study, we established a useful protocol for generating IPCs from canine adipose mesenchymal stem cells (cAD-MSCs). Subsequently, in vitro preservation of pluronic F127-coated alginate (ALGPA)-encapsulated cAD-MSC-derived IPCs was performed to verify ready-to-use (RTU) IPCs. IPCs were induced from cAD-MSCs with the modulated three-stepwise protocol. Here, we developed two simple cell-culture, heat-killed and formalin-killed vaccines (HKV and FKV) aiming to prevent this disease. The vaccine efficacies were evaluated by intraperitoneal injection in juvenile tilapia with each vaccine containing 1.8 × 106 TCID50 inactivated virus, followed by a booster dose at 21-day post primary vaccination (dppv) in the same manner. Aeromonas is an important bacterial pathogen in freshwater fishes. This study aimed to investigate the distribution and diversity of Aeromonas spp. including their antimicrobial resistance patterns. 86 Aeromonas isolates were collected from diseased fish in 13 fish farms around Thailand. Biochemical tests, MALDI-TOF MS, PCR assays, and the gyrB gene sequence analysis were used to identify all isolates. MALDI-TOF MS confirmed 100% (86 isolates) at the genus level and 88.4% (76 isolates) at the species level. Interleukin-6 (IL-6) has been reported significantly increases in inflammation environment and plays pivotal roles in osteogenic differentiation and matrix mineralization enhancement. However, the regulating pathways governing osteogenic differentiation potential by human periodontal ligament stem cells (hPDLSCs) under IL-6 treatment are still unclear. To elucidate this phenomenon, the pathway inhibiton and stimulation strategies were employed. Osteogenic and pathway-related mRNA marker expression, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity, matrix mineralization, and b-catenin stabilization and translocation were analyzed. The etiology of canine Legg-Calve-Perthes disease (LCPD) is still unknown. The current treatments are conservative and surgery. Although non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), nutraceuticals, and rehabilitation were used in the conservative treatment, it only had a 25% success rate. In a dog with severe clinical signs and bony change in radiography, the femoral head and neck ostectomy were selected. This procedure could decrease pain, but in clinical evaluation with force plate and kinetic and kinematic measurements, the dogs were shown to have lameness. Ungulate malaria parasites, such as the species that infects farmed dairy buffaloes (Plasmodium bubalis), have received little attention, with only a few reports in other livestock animals. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of the parasites, hosts, and mosquito vectors for their biology and molecular evolution remains inadequate. This study aimed to investigate the natural infection of P. bubalis and its suspected vector, develop an effective detection method, and analyze the genome of P. bubalis and related genera. Levofloxacin (LEV) is one of the third-generation quinolones with broader spectrum against gram-positive and anaerobic bacteria, compared with the previous generations. LEV is an extra-label antimicrobial drug for treating systemic infection and urinary tract infection (UTI) in dogs in many countries including Thailand. Although the pharmacokinetic data of LEV in dogs has been published, its antimicrobial activity against gram-negative bacteria causing UTI is limited. In this study, the post-operative pain and inflammation management after undergoing medial patellar luxation surgery in dogs by the use of CBD ointment and topical NSIADs were compared. The data was collected from the surgery during November 2021 to April 2022, including 10 Pomeranians and 4 Chihuahuas, which were medial patellar luxation (MPL) grade 3. The samples were divided into 3 groups, inclusive of control group and treatment groups that were samples receiving CBD ointment and topical NSAIDs. Campylobacter jejuni is the leading cause of human gastroenteritis worldwide. Although they are microaerophile and sensitive to oxygen, aerotolerant C. jejuni has been reported in many countries. Currently, limited information on aerotolerant C. jejuni in Thailand has been reported.
