BACKGROUND: Recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB) is an epithelial fragility disease primarily affecting the skin and is caused by variants in the COL7A1 gene. Individuals with RDEB are predisposed to develop highly aggressive cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) which are the most common cause of premature death. Introduction: Anti-CD20 therapy (rituximab) has emerged as an effective and disease modifying treatment for pemphigus, especially in early disease. However, significant variability exists around the clinical application of this therapy.

Methods: In this survey-based study among bullous disease experts, we investigated practice patterns surrounding the use of rituximab in the management of pemphigus. Anonymized surveys were sent to physician members of the internation Pemphigus and Pemphigoid Foundation. Topics of inquiry included the use of rituximab first line in newly diagnosed pemphigus, rituximab dosing regimen, use of concomitant steroid sparing agents, criteria for retreatment, and the use of antimicrobial prophylaxis.

The potent sensitizer PPD is considered a key sensitizer in hair dye contact allergy. Modification of its molecular structure to 2-methoxymethyl-p-phenylenediamine (ME-PPD) reduces its skin sensitizing potency. We investigated the usage, behavior, and tolerance profile of ME-PPD-containing professional hair color products in a specifically tailored proactive market surveillance program in hairdresser salons across 5 countries. Hairdressers completed record cards for their clients, which were evaluated at the end of the program. 497 individuals received in total 2461 hair color treatments with ME-PPD-containing hair color. While targeted therapies and immunotherapy have improved patient outcomes, resistance remains a major challenge, necessitating new therapeutic approaches. Diaper dermatitis is a rash typically localized to the genital area and may have various etiologies, including irritant and allergic contact dermatitis. In most cases, it resolves on its own with minimal to no medical intervention, and when treatment is necessary, it usually responds promptly. Here, we present a prolonged case of diaper dermatitis accompanied by a nearly full-body rash that was resistant to initial treatment with steroids, antibiotics, and antifungals.

BACKGROUND: The objective of this study was to determine the effect of bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) on long-term patient outcomes when used as an adjuvant to acetabular repair of the labrum.

METHODS: A systematic review and meta-analysis were completed following PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Included in the analysis were controlled studies which assessed functional outcomes via the International Hip Outcome Tool-33 (iHOT-33) 12 or 24 months after acetabular repair with BMAC adjunct. Becker nevus syndrome is a rare cutaneous disorder characterized by the presence of a hyperpigmented patch of skin typically occurring on the upper trunk, often associated with hypertrichosis, and sometimes associated with musculoskeletal abnormalities ipsilateral to the nevus. Becker nevus syndrome can lead to breast hypoplasia. Unlike other forms of breast hypoplasia, treatment should begin before the completion of breast development. Due to the rarity of the disease, breast reconstruction in these patients has no gold-standard approach, and treatment is often delayed. We report a case of persistent lichenoid dermatitis during therapy and eruptive keratoacanthomas (KAs) following the cessation of nivolumab.

Staphylococcal Scalded Skin Syndrome (SSSS) is a blistering skin condition caused by a toxin-producing staphylococcus species. Epidemiologic studies on pediatric SSSS in the United States are limited, with a reported incidence of 7.67 cases per million children and 45.1 per million infants. Immature renal function, lack of protective antibodies, and increased exotoxin target desmoglein-1 are hypothesized to increase incidence in younger children.
