Background: Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) are widely used in health programs to assess clinical skills. We present results of a qualitative study investigating occupational therapy students’ perceptions of OSCEs’ impact on their learning and readiness for clinical practice.

Method: Six second and six third year students in the University of Alberta’s Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program were interviewed in separate focus groups. Independent reviewers applied thematic analysis to the focus group transcripts to identify, analyze, and report themes in the data.

Objectives: Limitations in the thoracic spine movement can cause excessive lumbar rotation and back pain; however, it is unclear whether increasing thoracic rotation reduces excessive lumbar rotation. This study aimed to examine the effect of thoracic spine mobilization on the rotation angle of the lumbar spine during trunk rotation. Methods: Twenty healthy volunteers participated in this study. Past research suggests educating individuals about chronic pain is efficacious in changing knowledge, health beliefs, and healthcare utilization. This study piloted an educational intervention to teach participants about the nature of chronic, nociplastic pain.

Radiation is a standard cancer therapy, however it can cause fibrosis of blood vessels, the breakdown of soft tissue, and subsequently lead to necrosis. Progression of Dilated Cardiomyopathy to advanced heart failure necessitates the use of a Left Ventricular Assistive Device (LVAD) as a bridge to heart transplantation (1,8,10). Two teenagers with cardiomyopathy who were on the waiting list for heart transplantation and had LVADs were given a physical training intervention tailored by physiotherapist. This case report reviewed the efficacy of prehabilitation conducted by physiotherapists at the Hong Kong Children's Hospital. After the prehabilitation program both patients demonstrated significant improvements in functional capacity, respiratory effort, and hand strength. Physical training is a promising approach for patients who have undergone heart transplantation.

Expiratory muscle strength training (EMST) is increasingly being used to treat voice, cough, and swallowing deficits in a wide range of conditions. However, a multitude of aero-resistive EMST models are commercially available, and the ab-sence of side-by-side comparative data interferes with clinicians’ ability to assess which model is best suited to a particular client’s needs. A reason for this improved access was the implementation of telestroke services. Introduction: Interpretations of patient-reported outcome measures following knee arthroplasty lack context and typically do not account for costs, risks and benefits compared to an alternative treatment. The primary purpose of our paper is to estimate expectations patients have for pain and function destination outcome, six-months following surgery relative to the outcome expected if knee arthroplasty was not done. Secondary purposes were to determine if statistically significant changes in the smallest worthwhile six-month outcome occurred following an interactive discussion and to assess the construct validity of the expected six-month outcome obtained at baseline.
