Recent evidence has emphasized the importance of the early childhood years for developing lifelong physical activity patterns. As such, evidence-informed programs that create opportunities for young children to engage in physical activity are needed and education settings present an important context. Background: Spot urine samples are often used to assess exposure to organophosphate (OP) pesticides in place of “gold standard” 24-hr samples, which are cumbersome to collect. Assessment of non-persistent chemicals using spot urine samples may result in exposure misclassification that could bias epidemiological analyses towards the null. However, little existing research examines the link between children’s cognitive reasoning about illness and their subsequent behaviors regarding its transmissibility. Objectives: This study aimed to examine age-specific trends in the prevalence of overweight and obesity in schoolchildren in Kuwait over a 13-year period (2007 to 2019) using the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the International Obesity Taskforce (IOTF) definitions.

Design: Using cross-sectional approach, Kuwait Nutrition Surveillance System (KNSS) objectively measured weight and height of schoolchildren over a 13-year period. Log-binomial regression models were used to examine age-specific trends of obesity and overweight over the study period.

Subjects and Methods: The Kuwait Nutrition Surveillance System objectively measured the height of 172,573 schoolchildren (5–19 years) over a 13-year period (2007–2019). Data on gender and date of birth were extracted from school records. Stunting was defined as height 2 standard deviations (SD) below the World Health Organization growth reference median. Introduction Familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH) is a common, heritable and preventable cause of premature coronary artery disease, with significant potential for positive impact on public health and healthcare savings. New clinical practice recommendations are presented in an abridged guidance to assist practitioners in enhancing the care of all patients with FH. Familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH) is a dominant and highly penetrant monogenic disorder present from birth that markedly elevates plasma low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol concentration and, if untreated, leads to premature atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease (CAD). There are approximately 100,000 people with FH in Australia. However, an overwhelming majority of those affected remain undetected and inadequately treated, consistent with FH being a leading challenge for public health genomics. Background/aim: We evaluated the feasibility of producing splints with 3D printer technology to prevent contractures in burned children in our clinical prospective study. Materials and methods: After approvals, children with burns greater than 2nd degree were included in the study. Age, sex, burn percentages, printing time, filament types, number of filament trials, splint suitability, patient and doctor comments, preclinical trials' significances and financial impact were evaluated statistically. Background/aim: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the etiology, clinical characteristics, and outcome of nontraumatic coma (NTC) among children admitted to a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). Materials and methods: A total of 159 children with NTC were included in the study. The modified Glasgow coma scale (GCS) was used to assess consciousness. Patients were classified with regard to etiology. For each patient, demographic and clinical characteristics, survival and degree of disability at PICU discharge were recorded. Solid pseudopapillary neoplasms (SPNs) are very rare pancreatic tumors in children. We present clinical presentation, tumor characteristic, surgical management and outcome of SPNs at our institute. There were four patients (3 males, 1 female) undergoing pancreatectomy for SPNs with median age of 11.5 years (10 - 14 years). Presenting symptoms were abdominal pain (n = 4), palpable abdominal mass (n = 2) and vomiting (n = 2).
